At the engine manufacturer MTU, around 1.000 jobs are being cut due to the effects of the corona pandemic. The company hopes that redundancies for operational reasons can be avoided in Germany. However, this should be unavoidable in the foreign branches.

MTU has not yet been able to quantify the exact extent of the impending workforce reduction. It is currently assumed that around ten to 15 percent of employees worldwide are no longer needed. The engine manufacturer currently employs around 10.700 people, the vast majority of whom are employed in Germany.
