The IAG subsidiary British Airways has announced that a further 10.300 short- and medium-haul flights will be canceled by the end of October. The company took the adjustment to the summer 2022 schedule just ahead of a deadline granted by the UK Civil Aviation Authority.

UK allows the carriers to adapt their plans up to and including Friday without running the risk of losing coveted take-off and landing rights. This is intended to ensure that feasible flight plans are submitted due to the acute shortage of staff at airports, but also at the airlines. Over the past few weeks, there have been repeated, extremely long queues in the United Kingdom. Many flights also had to be canceled due to a lack of staff.

The extent of the cuts at British Airways is around 13 percent of the originally planned summer flight schedule for 2022. If possible, affected passengers will be rebooked on other flights and offered full refund of the ticket price as an alternative.
