The low-cost airline Wizz Air continues its expansion course in Italy. The sixth base is to be built at Naples Airport. In addition to the eight existing routes, the carrier plans to add 18 new routes.

Most of these should start from September 2021. These are the destinations Casablanca, Crete, Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Lampedusa, London Luton, Milan Linate, Mykonos, Olbia, Prague, Reykjavik, Santorini, Sharm el Sheikh, Tallinn, Tel Aviv, Tenerife, Turin and Verona.

Two Airbus A321s are to be stationed in Naples. The opening of the base will be carried out with a machine of this type in August 2021. The second medium-haul jet is to follow in September 2021. Wizz Air has been expanding strongly in Italy for almost a year and has recently also relied on the inner-city airport Milan-Linate.
