With 15,8 million passengers carried, Emirates was the largest international airline in the world in 2020, according to the latest IATA World Air Transport statistics. In the summer travel months of July and August 2021, Emirates also handled almost 1,2 million passengers at its hub - around three times as many as in the previous year.

There were 402.000 passengers carried in this period. This increase is proof of the safe and smooth resumption of international travel to and via Dubai. Since reopening Dubai to international visitors, Emirates has gradually restored its route network and flight schedules. While there were initially a handful of cities served in July 2020, the airline now offers connections to more than 120 destinations worldwide. Further flights are to be added on over 20 routes by October.
