2020 was an epidemic year for Boeing

For Boeing, 2020 was an epidemic year in the truest sense of the word. Not only did the debacle about the 737-Max cause trouble and costs, 1.000 orders had to be deleted from the books. Also, you could only deliver 157 machines to customers.

The aircraft manufacturer received 650 cancellations and had to cancel further orders because the customers are no longer able to pay. Since the re-registration of the 737-Max, Boeing has been able to hand over 31 units to customers. They also received a major order from Ryanair, but this was the absolute exception last year.

The 737-Max was not the only problem area, however, as there are further delays in the 777X program. This is also due to the fact that customers are pushing for the machines to be handed over later. The first delivery is currently not expected before 2023. Dreamliner production is also coming under pressure: Local media reports that production will be concentrated on South Carolina and will be reduced to a maximum of five copies per month from March onwards.

Boeing was able to announce new orders again on Tuesday - after a long dry spell. The logistics company DHL, which belongs to Deutsche Post, orders eight 777Fs and they were able to sell Boeing 747-8s to Atlas Air.

At Boeing, the signs of the Corona crisis were recognized too late, plus the sloppiness that can be found across the board in almost all products, you put yourself in this miserable position.
You have to say that Airbus has maneuvered its way through better, thanks to Faury who recognized the signs in March and radically cut production, there are only a few planes at Airbus.
It looks like the defects in the B787 production are more extensive than expected, not a single machine of this type has been handed over to customers since November.
Then there is not only the Max problem and that of the 777X but also of the KC46 tankers.
The only problem-free model 747/8 is a discontinued model.
There are still a lot of construction sites at Boeing.
Meanwhile, Airbus is putting more and more pressure on with new models such as the A321XLR.
An A220 / 500 is expected to be added to the range soon, but Boeing does not have a single product to counter it.
