The global business travel association expects higher spending on business travel this year.

According to estimates by the business travel association GBTA, spending is expected to increase by 21 percent worldwide after falling 2020 percent to 52 billion dollars in 694 due to the virus pandemic. In addition, the association would expect a rapid recovery at pre-crisis level, like the travel portal Travel before 9 reported. By the end of 2024, spending could reach around $ 1,4 trillion - almost the high of 2019. But there are also dissenting voices. Quite a few experts expect a permanent decline in business travel as dozens of companies question the strengths of their travel activities. Because recently video conferencing has to be used. And this type of communication is currently proving to be quite useful, so that business trips in the future will only be part of the agenda in exceptional cases. This assumption is supported by data from the German business travel association VDR from the end of January. According to this, 58 percent of companies expect a decrease in business trips of up to 30 percent beyond the corona pandemic. Eleven percent even predict a decline of around half.
