Salzburg: Transavia serves Amsterdam all year round

The Dutch airline Transavia will be offering the Amsterdam destination from Salzburg all year round from July 2021. In summer 2021, two rotations per week are to be carried out. Transfers to the parent company KLM and other Skyteam partners are also possible at Schiphol. "We are delighted that we can also include this beautiful destination in our network in summer. Austria is not only a popular destination for Dutch people in winter, but is also very popular in summer. The city of Salzburg and the beautiful surroundings offer everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday," says Marcel de Nooijer, CEO of Transavia. "In the crisis, it was not easy to convince an existing partner of the airport to increase its efforts in the Salzburg market. We are in competition with more than 30 European airports for routes such as Amsterdam, and this has become even tougher during the Corona crisis," says airport managing director Bettina Ganghofer. Initially only point-to-point bookings will be possible, but according to Salzburg Airport, preparations are underway in the background that will then enable transfers to KLM and Skyteam partners. "I am all the more pleased that our efforts have finally paid off and that from July we will not only be transporting guests to and from Amsterdam in winter, but will be flying to the Dutch capital all year round," Ganghofer continued. Flight schedule at a glance: Flight number Date Day Departure Arrival HV 6691 from July 8th TH Amsterdam 14.15:15.50 p.m. Salzburg 6692:8 p.m. HV 16.35 from July 18.25th TH Salzburg 6591:11 p.m. Amsterdam 13.15:XNUMX p.m. HV XNUMX from July XNUMXth SUN Amsterdam XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.

Fake PCR tests: Pakistan issues Air Blue flight ban

The Pakistan Aviation Authority imposed an extremely harsh penalty on the airline AirBlue and banned it from flying. The background to this is that passengers were repeatedly caught with fake PCR results. According to local media, the first incident occurred on May 10, 2021. In Peshawar, 24 travelers were caught on a flight with fake negative PCR tests. Some of these were tested positive for the corona virus by the authorities. Just a few days later, on May 16, 2021, officials caught another 27 travelers with fake results. The fake test confirmations are said to have been so crudely forged that this should have been easy to recognize. The flight ban that has now been imposed applies to the routes from Dubai and Sharjah to Peshawar. In the event of further violations, the temporary withdrawal of the operating license is even under consideration.

Flying only once a year? Ofner doesn't think so

Fuelled by the election campaign in Germany, the debate about short-haul flights originally started by Greta Thunberg has gained momentum again. EU Commissioner Timmermans has now demanded in an interview that citizens should only be allowed to fly by plane once a year. Vienna Airport Director Günther Ofner does not agree with this demand and points out that implementing the proposal would result in "a massive restriction of personal freedom" and the "destruction of tourism development". "Austria generates 60 percent of its added value through exports, and the pandemic has impressively shown the devastating consequences for the economy and the labor market when employees cannot travel. If Timmermans is serious about his demand, then the EU Commissioners and MEPs should set an example and only fly once a year themselves. A prerequisite for reducing short-haul flights would be a functioning rail service, which Europe is miles away from, and most passengers are transfer passengers who travel to the airport hubs to fly on from there. Penalizing air traffic through higher taxes would also exclude young people, students, pensioners and families from flying. Instead of dirigism, the EU Commission should promote the development and use of CO2-free synthetic fuels; this would help the whole world to protect the climate. Aviation currently only contributes 2,5 percent to CO2 emissions, in Europe only 0,87 percent, but CO2-free synthetic fuels can reduce this to zero by 2050, which the industry has also committed to," said Ofner.

Corpus Christi: Austrian Airlines increases

Austrian Airlines is increasing its flight schedule around Corpus Christi. The focus is on additional warm water destinations in Greece and Spain.
