Düsseldorf: Eurowings reactivates Kiev-Borispil

After a long break, Eurowings has resumed flights from Düsseldorf to Kiev-Borispil. Initially, three weekly rotations are offered. Competitors such as Ryanair and Wizz Air reactivated their services to the capital of Ukraine much earlier. Eurowings uses Borispil Airport in Kiev, which is located far from the city area. The only current provider of flights between Germany and the inner-city Kiev-Zhulyany Airport is Wizz Air. The latter airport has significantly higher fees that users have to pay than Borispil. "We, the airlines of the Lufthansa Group, are pleased to strengthen our presence at Boryspil International Airport and to launch our new Eurowings route Kiev-Düsseldorf with three weekly flights. After 30 years of successful operations of Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines flights to Kiev, Eurowings is entering the market today and offering our travelers from Kiev even more options for worldwide connections. With the new direct flights, Lufthansa Group Airlines will be offering around 70 weekly frequencies from Ukraine to Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich and now also Düsseldorf," says Karsten Zang, General Manager Sales Ukraine, Belarus, Turkmenistan and South Caucasus. The flights will expand the range of "family and home visits" in which the Lufthansa subsidiary already offers numerous connections to Greece, Croatia, Turkey and Beirut in Lebanon, for example. Since July, Eurowings has also had flights to Tbilisi in Georgia, Yekaterinburg and Krasnodar in Russia and the Armenian capital Yerevan in its program.

AUA has no interest in “Ryanair hand luggage rules”

The last A380 will go to Emirates in November 2021

In November of this year, an era will end at European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, as the last A380 will be handed over to Emirates Airline. Lufthansa: Spohr expects a long, cold winter

CEO Carsten Spohr is expecting a "long and cold winter", for which the group is currently preparing. Demand in the industry was certainly high during the summer holidays, but a look at the autumn and winter shows that the number of advance bookings is cause for concern. Lufthansa is not spared from this development. The competition from the low-cost segment is currently outdoing itself with discount campaigns and on some routes ticket prices have plummeted into the single-digit euro range. This is a clear indication that the company is trying to attract additional bookings through prices. As far as Lufthansa is concerned, Spohr wants to stick to the goals it has set itself. However, he no longer dares to make a forecast for the North American market, the manager told the editorial network Germany. Italy: FlyLeOne has been granted AOC

After more than 18 months of hard work, Stefano Costantini, the man behind FlyLeOne, has finally achieved one of his biggest goals in life. FlyLeOne was handed over its Italian AOC with ENAC number IT.0192 in the last few days. The first aircraft is a Beech 1900D registered in Malta as 9H-MDM and leased from ACIA. The aircraft, parked and maintained at Medavia's facilities in Malta, had hardly flown in the last 12 months. The aircraft was transferred to Toulouse where it was painted in FlyLeOne's distinctive colors. Stefano Costantini, who explained that the up-and-coming airline has set up a base in Pescara with flights to Lamezia Terme, Trieste and Genoa. The company has reached agreements with some major travel agencies and has an ambitious expansion plan. The CEO revealed that FlyLeOne is already in talks with Medavia to lease a second Beech 1900D, which he identified as 9H-AFH. The company has no intention of switching to larger turboprops, including the ATR, an aircraft that Stefano Costantini described as "expensive" for FlyLeOne operations. Although the airline has an Italian AOC, it remains on the Maltese aircraft register. He spoke highly of the Malta Civil Aviation Directorate, awarding Head of Aviation Inspection Carl Tabone and Airworthiness Inspector Connie Di Cesare for their outstanding work. There are plans to eventually transfer the AOC to TM-CAD. The company already employs four pilots and has signed technical agreements with Kerozene and Northern Aerotech to support the Beech 1900D.

Zurich: Emirates increases frequencies

Wizz Air introduces mandatory vaccination for staff
