GetJet: next subsidiary at the start?

The Lithuanian charter specialist GetJet Airlines only launched a subsidiary in Malta, Airhub Airlines, in the summer of 2020. Now another company has been founded in Latvia. Or not? Not much is known about the new company in Latvia. On February 25, 2021, SIA "GetJet Airlines Latvia" was entered into the Latvian company register. In the meantime, the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO has also assigned a corresponding code for the Latvian GetJet: DML GetJet has not yet responded to a request from Aviation.direct, but we do know a little more about the Latvian GetJet. This company is not, as one might assume, a new company. Previously, the name Diamond Sky LV was used and thus belonged to the Estonian Diamond Sky. The Estonian company mainly operates with smaller business jets, turboprops and some helicopters in the VIP segment. Under the brand Ruhnu Saare Lennutransport, a Britten-Norman Islander is also operated on scheduled flights from Pärnu to the islands of Ruhnu and Kuressaare. Now it seems as if Diamond Sky has sold its Latvian subsidiary to the charter and ACMI specialist GetJet Airlines. But our research tells a different story here too. The Estonian investment company KK Diamond Group OU is still registered as the owner. Ken Koort and Karl Koort (owners of KK Diamond) are also the same people as those registered for the Estonian Diamond Sky. There is much to suggest that GetJet Airlines Latvia will also enter the charter and ACMI market after the AOC is granted. But as long as neither Riga nor Vilnius

For the third time, FACC reports positive quarterly operating results

The Upper Austrian aircraft equipment manufacturer FACC, which is also suffering from the corona crisis, says that the third quarter went better than expected. The construction rates of the most important FACC platform (A320 family) are developing very positively, as announced by Airbus. The market development - the opening of US flights from November 8th to vaccinated EU citizens - is "an important impulse," the company said on Wednesday. Sales in the third quarter were 118,1 million euros, up on the same period last year (101,5 million euros), and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization were positive at 7,6 million euros, after -10,8 million euros a year ago. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) turned positive at 0,1 million euros (after -18,6 million euros). It is particularly pleasing that the third positive quarterly EBIT in a row was achieved in the third quarter despite the seasonally weaker summer months, FACC said in a press release. However, the bottom line was that the result after taxes remained slightly negative at -2,0 (-20,7) million euros. In the nine months as a whole, sales revenues were below the previous year at 358,3 (398,5) million euros. EBITDA improved significantly to 28,2 (3,3) million euros, EBIT from -53,0 million to 2,9 million euros and net income from -60,3 million to 1,1 million euros. Due to the defeat in a legal dispute with a supplier, FACC significantly reduced its EBIT forecast on Tuesday. Due to an extraordinary legal burden, a negative EBIT of 25 to 30 million euros is expected this year, it said. In August,

Airport Weeze: Electric ground power devices are now supplying the jets

Electric ground power units are now being used at Weeze Airport to supply energy to the aircraft while the jets are parked. With a six-figure investment in environmentally friendly power supply for the aircraft on the apron, the use of diesel-powered units has been discontinued. By investing in its technical infrastructure, Weeze Airport is setting an example for a more sustainable future. On Tuesday, November 9, airport representatives officially put the electric ground power units into operation at the nine parking positions on the airport apron. The airport invested a six-figure sum in the new technology. The so-called GPUs (Ground Power Units) supply the aircraft with electricity for their on-board supply during their downtime between landing and take-off at the airport. Diesel-powered GPUs have been used in Weeze so far. “The handling team has already gotten to know the new power stations during the test phase and appreciates them very much. Their work will be made easier by the conversion. The new technology is pioneering and environmentally friendly. The E-GPUs are a truly progressive project because ecological and sustainable work is important to us. It is also a great advantage that the devices can be powered by the solar power we generate at the airport," says airport boss Sebastian Papst. Four of the GPUs at Weeze Airport were installed stationary. Five more can be used flexibly so that larger aircraft can also be supplied at the parking positions. In order to commission the new devices, the first step was to create the power infrastructure for the GPUs. The necessary cables from the transformer to the nine aircraft positions were installed under the concrete ceiling of the apron using a wash drilling method.

Domestic flights: Vaccination or proof of test with Air New Zealand

In the future, Air New Zealand will only allow passengers to use domestic flights if they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. In a transitional phase that will take effect from December 14, 2021, a negative corona test that must not be older than 72 hours can also be presented as an alternative. Air New Zealand already wants to only transport vaccinated passengers on international routes. Within New Zealand, a final decision on the 1G rule has not yet been made, which is why negative Covid tests are also accepted domestically. How long this transitional phase will last is still open. The company stated that it will re-evaluate around March 31, 2022. It will then be decided whether only vaccinated people will be transported on domestic flights or whether the rule will be dropped. In Canada, for example, people who are not vaccinated against Covid-19 are no longer allowed to use flights, long-distance buses and long-distance trains. This expressly also applies to domestic traffic.
