Innsbruck welcomes guest number 100.000 to the lounge

Innsbruck Airport welcomed its 100.000th guest to the "Tyrol Business Lounge" on Saturday. The exclusive waiting area was opened in December 2007. The airport is delighted with the high level of use. After two difficult years for the entire travel industry, the airport is all the more pleased that the number of guests is rising again and that the 100.000 mark has now been exceeded. The 100.000th guest, 11-year-old Alexandra, visited the Tyrol Business Lounge with her family before flying to Stockholm (with the airline SAS) to perfectly round off her winter holiday in Tyrol. Patrick Dierich, deputy airport director, and Dominik Abolis, head of Passenger Services, were keen to give her a personal welcome. "This is pure relaxation before a flight. Enjoying the Tyrolean mountain scenery in this beautiful location one more time before heading home prolongs the holiday feeling. We will definitely be back," enthused Alexandra's family. The desire to create a frequent flyer lounge at the airport had been there for a long time. In 2017, this wish was finally realized together with the award-winning Tyrolean interior designer Nina Mair. The more than 250m² lounge impresses with its high-quality design, stylish ambience and the central theme of alpine-urban connection, which is reflected in the breathtaking panoramic view and the contrasting materials used. The deputy airport director Patrick Dierich is still enthusiastic more than four years after the opening: "We are still proud and happy about the implementation of the Tyrol Lounge at our airport. Nina Mair has succeeded in creating an interior design jewel with this project, which is rightly considered unique.

Aeroflot planes are stuck in Munich, Amsterdam and Geneva

The Russian airline Aeroflot currently has three aircraft from the A320 series "stuck" in the European Union and Switzerland. Due to the airspace closure for Russian airlines, these are not allowed to leave the respective airports until further notice. The Airbus A320 with the registration VP-BET is stranded in Munich, Germany. It flew in from St. Petersburg on Sunday and was unable to leave the Bavarian airport due to the flight ban imposed by the German government on Russian airlines. The Airbus A320 with the registration VP-BAC is stuck in Amsterdam. It was on its way from Moscow-Sheremetyevo to Düsseldorf on Sunday. The carrier was unable to reach its planned destination due to the airspace closure and had to divert to Amsterdam. This airport can no longer be left due to the EU-wide ban. The Airbus A321 with the registration VP-BOE is stuck in Geneva, Switzerland. It came from Moscow-Sheremetyevo. It was no longer possible to take the route via Germany because the airspace was closed. The plan was to fly to Mineralnye Vody via France and Italy, but this did not happen because the two countries have also closed their airspace to Russian carriers.

Air France-KLM has its eye on Air Europa

The takeover of the airline Air Europa by the International Airlines Group fell through towards the end of last year. Now the carrier could end up with arch-rival Air France-KLM. Exploratory talks are said to already be underway. Local media report that the French-Dutch group is very interested in a possible takeover of Air Europa. However, Air France-KLM would first have to solve another problem: Due to the state aid granted in the wake of the corona pandemic, it is restricted in this regard. Unlike Lufthansa, it has not yet fully repaid this. On Friday, IAG boss Luis Gallego also commented on this issue. The manager confirmed that Air Europa owner Globalia is in negotiations with "another European airline group". Most recently, the travel group also stated that it sees itself in a position to keep Air Europa in the air on its own.

Vienna: Easyjet is withdrawing completely for the time being

The low-cost airline Easyjet is temporarily withdrawing completely from Vienna-Schwechat. Most recently it was said that the Berlin route would continue to be served, but this will also be discontinued on March 25, 2022. Easyjet does not have any aircraft stationed in Vienna-Schwechat. The headquarters of Easyjet Europe Airline GmbH is located in Vienna on Wagramer Strasse. Before the Corona pandemic, the destinations Basel, Amsterdam and Berlin-Tegel were in the program. Destinations such as Milan-Malpensa had long since been discontinued. A few days ago, the carrier decided that the Austrian capital would no longer be served from Basel and Amsterdam. Now the Berlin route has also been affected, which has suffered from strongly fluctuating capacity utilization since it was taken over by Air Berlin. Easyjet is now pulling the emergency brake and will serve this route for the last time on March 25, 2022. Officially, however, it is said that this will only be a break during the 2022 summer flight schedule period. A possible resumption has been announced for October 30, 2022. Tickets between Berlin and Vienna vv are already being sold for the 2022/23 winter flight schedule period. It remains to be seen whether Easyjet will actually reactivate the route.

La Compagnie wants to fly to Brazil

The French airline La Compagnie is considering expanding to Brazil. It has applied to the relevant authorities for approval for irregular flights. The carrier is still keeping quiet about possible destinations. La Compagnie's core business is non-stop flights between France and the United States of America. It uses two Airbus A321LRs with 76 business class seats. Another focus market for the carrier is Tel Aviv. Company boss Christian Vernet has not explicitly ruled out the purchase of Airbus A321XLRs, as this model could open up routes that are outside the range of the A321LRs currently in use. However, no order has yet been placed for this. In South America, the airline has set its sights on Brazil and would like to start flying from France using the same business model that it already uses to fly to the USA. The company does not yet want to comment on the planned destinations. Based on the application submitted, it is also unclear whether these will be charter-like flights or whether it will fly all year round.

Sale and leaseback deal: Easyjet silvers ten A319s

The low-cost airline Easyjet has cashed in a total of ten Airbus A319s as part of a sale and leaseback deal. The deal was concluded with the Irish lessor Aergo Capital Ltd. The aircraft concerned were put into service in 2008. This is the first SLB deal that the two companies have agreed with each other. Easyjet has repeatedly resorted to this financing method during the course of the Corona pandemic. "We are delighted to welcome Aergo as one of our new lessors and see them as an important partner as we continue to use sale and leasebacks for the A319 type while we phase out these aircraft from the fleet and introduce aircraft from the Airbus A320neo family with newer technology," said Easyjet CFO Kenton Jarvis.

According to the carrier, these fixed prices are a response to the recent sharp rise in prices around the election date. Under Maltese law, it is also possible to cast your vote early on March 19, 2022. The special fare mentioned in the previous paragraph is also available for this date. This is only accessible to people who are registered in the electoral register and can only be booked by telephone through the carrier's service center.
