Air France installs sliding doors in Business Class

Air France is introducing a new business class on long-haul flights. The seats will have a sliding door, a privacy feature that was previously reserved for first-class passengers on some airlines. The new seats will be installed in the 12 Boeing 777-300s from autumn. The design of this seat is based on the 3 'F's', writes the airline: Full Flat, which means that the seat turns into a real bed almost two metres long, Full Access, which offers all passengers direct access to the aisle, and Full Privacy, which ensures optimal privacy. The new sliding door is intended to enable passengers to create a completely private space that is not visible to the other passengers in the cabin. To increase the feeling of privacy for passengers travelling together, the seats in the middle of the cabin are now equipped with a central panel that can be lowered by pushing down to create a shared space. The seat also features a wide, anti-glare 17,3-inch 4K high-definition screen with a noise-cancelling headset, a new Bluetooth connection that allows passengers to use their own headphones, and multiple power outlets. The seat's upholstery provides softness and a feeling of comfort. Wool, brushed aluminum and full-grain French leather have been chosen to make their seats.

Frankfurt Airport: Easter significantly stimulates passenger numbers

Thanks to Easter travel, passenger volume at Frankfurt Airport in April was more than four times higher than in the same month last year. A total of around 4,0 million passengers used the airport - an increase of 303,8 percent, according to operator Fraport. This was the strongest monthly figure since the start of the corona pandemic, but the figures were still a good third below the pre-crisis level of April 2019. In the cargo business, Fraport continued to feel the effects of the lockdowns in China due to the corona pandemic and the airspace restrictions caused by the war in Ukraine. Cargo volume fell by 16 percent to 169.316 tons last month. The number of flight movements more than doubled to 32.342 takeoffs and landings, an increase of 108,8 percent. The international portfolio also benefited from the ongoing recovery in passenger demand. All Group airports achieved increases of over 100 percent compared to April 2021.

Zurich Airport with passenger growth in April

Last month, 1,8 million people flew through Zurich Airport. That is 465 percent more than in the same month last year. The airport recorded daily highs, particularly over the Easter holidays and spring break, the likes of which were last seen in March 2020, the airport operator said. Both the number of local and transit passengers increased, it said. The number of transfer passengers increased by 665 percent, which was once again noticeably more than the number of local passengers (+428 percent). Comparing the figures over three years, however, shows that the airport is still suffering from a massive drop in passenger numbers. The figures only reached two-thirds of the level of March 2019. The number of flight movements also increased significantly compared to the previous year, with almost 18 take-offs and landings (+000 percent). This means that almost three quarters of the arrivals and departures from 164 have been reached. Accordingly, the aircraft were once again more fully utilized. They were on average three-quarters full. On average, 2019 passengers were on board. In April last year, there were only 122,5. As in previous months, freight was also extremely strong in April. A total of over 81,3 tons of freight were handled at Zurich Airport. This corresponds to an increase of 37.000 percent compared to the same month last year. Compared to April 20, 2019 percent less freight was handled.

Analysis: Germans are extremely flexible when it comes to holiday planning

A recent analysis by the booking portal Skyscanner has shown that Germans are particularly flexible when planning their holidays this year. This applies to both the travel period and the destination. More than a third of those surveyed (35 percent) do not have a specific destination in mind when planning their trip. A further 42 percent said that they are flexible when it comes to where and when they travel. Most German travelers use the "All locations" option on Skyscanner.de instead of a specific travel destination. This search function enables travelers to easily compare all available flights to hundreds of travel destinations around the world and thus find the cheapest deals - sorted by price. The desire to have all the options for the next vacation in view is therefore great. For 51 percent, price is also one of the most important factors when booking a vacation. It is therefore not surprising that travelers prefer to remain flexible when choosing a destination in order to find the best price. "In recent years we have seen a shift in demand towards spontaneous and last-minute bookings. Also through search and comparison portals such as Skyscanner, which enable travellers to find the best prices at short notice, explains Naomi Hahn, travel expert at Skyscanner. "The impact of the pandemic has further accelerated this change, making flexible travel the new travel norm. In 2021, we saw some lesser-known destinations gain in popularity as countries without travel restrictions were particularly in focus. We expect this trend to continue over the

Basel receives Airport Carbon Accreditation Level 4

Basel Airport has been awarded the "Airport Carbon Accreditation" level 4 by ACI Europe. It is the first Swiss airport to achieve this certification level. In France, only the airports on the Côte d'Azur (Nice, Saint Tropez, Cannes) have been certified at level 4+, higher than EuroAirport. This was preceded by an audit by the independent testing agency Verifavia on behalf of ACI Europe. The certification confirms EuroAirport's efforts to reduce its own CO2 emissions and to involve its partners on the airport platform. To date, 396 airports in 76 countries worldwide have participated in this environmental certification. EuroAirport is one of the first twenty airports in Europe to be certified at one of the two highest levels of the program.
