The new US offensive at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport

Just a few weeks after the new Norwegian long-haul low-cost carrier Norse's surprise announcement that it would be flying to two new US destinations from Berlin, United is planning to add a fourth destination airport in the USA from Berlin in 2023 with Washington. With Norse's market entry, the 787 Dreamliners will fly to Kennedy Airport (JFK) from Berlin from next month. This is a new destination airport from BER, which means that two airports in the New York metropolitan area will be on the flight schedule: John F. Kennedy/JFK (Norse) and Newark (United). The Dreamliners, with two classes of seating, will also start a non-stop flight to the west coast of the USA several times a week, bound for Los Angeles/LAX. Eurowings Discover has been in the air for a year

Exactly one year ago, the currently youngest Lufthansa airline, Eurowings Discover, officially started its flight operations. This was carried out on July 24, 2022 from Frankfurt to Mombasa and Zanzibar. Initially, the holiday airline only operated one flight a week. According to its own information, it now has 158 weekly departures from Frankfurt and Munich. On the "first birthday" of the young Lufthansa subsidiary, there are 24 flights on short, medium and long-haul routes. The long-haul network now includes around 40 destinations in various countries. The company's own fleet currently consists of 17 aircraft. These are ten Airbus A330s and six A320s. According to a spokeswoman, the seventh medium-haul jet is to be added to the fleet in the next few days. Finnair (A350) and Air Baltic (A220) are also wet-leasing for Eurowings Discover. Two A321s from Finnair will also be wet-leased shortly. According to its own information, Eurowings Discover has had around one million passengers on board so far. The number of employees has now grown to around 1.300 in the cockpit, cabin and administration areas.
