9H-EUL: Eurowings Europe Ltd. will base the first aircraft in Salzburg
The new airline Eurowings Europe Ltd. is expected to receive its AOC and operating license in mid-October 2022. This is what the carrier assumes, a spokesperson told Aviation.Direct. The first aircraft will have the registration 9H-EUL and will be stationed in Salzburg. In contrast to competitor Wizz Air Malta, which carried out its maiden flight earlier this week, both AOC and OL have been applied for in Malta. The competitor flies under EASA AOC and Maltese operating license. Eurowings Europe Ltd. will receive both documents from the Maltese Civil Aviation Authority. The first aircraft that the new Eurowings offshoot will operate is the Airbus A320 with the current registration D-ABDP (MSN: 3093). This will be registered in the Malta aviation register as 9H-EUL and stationed in Salzburg, Austria, a Eurowings spokesperson told Aviation.Direct. The question of how many aircraft Eurowings Europe Ltd. in the 2023 summer flight schedule, the media officer answered as follows: "We are assuming 20+ aircraft." For comparison: The Austrian Eurowings Europe GmbH, which will cease its flight operations after the 2022/23 winter flight schedule, currently has six Airbus A319s and 13 Airbus A320s, i.e. a total of 19 aircraft.
