From Gdansk to Warsaw: Lot performed last Dash flight

The Polish airline Lot operated its last flight with the de Havilland Dash 31-2022 aircraft on December 8, 400. Since then, the carrier has been a pure jet operator, as it was the only turboprop model in the fleet. The last Dash scheduled flight was from Gdansk to Warsaw. Absurdly, the "official farewell flight" was carried out before Christmas. In fact, this aircraft type was still in use until December 31, 2022. The retirement of the last turboprops means that Lot is now a pure jet operator.

Spain: Aura Airlines has ceased operations

The Spanish airline Aura Airlines has finally ceased flight operations at the end of 2022. The carrier, which belongs to the JMB Aviation Group, had not been in the air for some time. The aircraft's registrations were canceled by the Spanish civil aviation authority Aesa. It was originally announced that the EC-NOZ and the EC-NMY would fly under wet lease for the Chilean startup Chex Air. However, this did not happen. The first aircraft has been parked in Tunis since October 27, 2022. This aircraft had already received Chex titles. The second Airbus A320 has been in Madrid since September 21, 2022. The EC-NOE has been parked in Cali since October 6, 2022. Aura Airlines is the only passenger airline of the JMB Aviation Group. Other carriers belonging to the group are: Transcarga International Airways (Venezuela), Cargo Three (Panama), SkyWay Enterprises (USA) and Island Wings (USA). The carriers mentioned specialize in cargo flights. Aura Airlines did not comment on the reason for the suspension of flight operations. It is also unclear whether a new restart is planned.

Easyjet cancels some routes from Germany and Switzerland

The low-cost airline Easyjet will not be offering some routes in the 2023 summer flight schedule - contrary to original plans. In German-speaking countries, the airports Basel, Geneva, Berlin, Cologne and Innsbruck are primarily affected. From the German capital airport, Easyjet will no longer fly to Santa Cruz, Milan-Malpensa, Marseille, Marrakech, Lyon, Lisbon, Innsbruck, Helsinki, Gothenburg, Cologne/Bonn, Cagliari and Athens in summer 2023. The former Vienna connection was discontinued some time ago. In Switzerland, the destinations Madrid and Izmir will be discontinued from Geneva. From Basel, Easyjet will no longer fly to Belgrade. In Cologne/Bonn, the Palma de Mallorca connection will be cut. Other routes will be discontinued, for example from Spain, the UK and France.

Saudia stocks up in Geneva and Munich

The airline Saudia will fly more frequently to Geneva and Munich as well as Paris-Charles de Gaulle in the 2023 summer flight schedule. The Greek capital Athens will also be flown to again from Riyadh on a seasonal basis. From Jeddah, Saudia is increasing frequencies to Munich (five times a week) and Paris-CDG (14 weekly rotations). In the case of the French capital, the number of flights per week will double, as it currently offers seven rotations. From Riyadh, Saudia will fly four times a week between June 27, 2023 and August 29, 2023. Seasonally, there will be weekly flights to Athens again from June 25, 2023 to August 27, 2023. This is a purely summer route, but it could be extended if it is successful.

Air Serbia flies more frequently to Vienna and Berlin

Wizz Air recently announced that it would be adding five new routes from Belgrade and, for example, also flying to Berlin in the future. In the meantime, market leader Air Serbia has reacted and is also flying more frequently on some routes. For example, the Serbian carrier will fly to the Austrian capital Vienna up to 26 times a week from March 2023, 18. Berlin-Brandenburg will be increased to eight weekly rotations in two steps. Air Serbia plans to fly to Milan-Malpensa ten times a week from the end of May 2023. Flight connections from Belgrade to Copenhagen, Rome-Fiumicino, Larnaca and Bologna will also be increased. There is not direct competition with Wizz Air on all routes.

From Linz and Graz: Avanti flies to Kefalonia for Rhomberg Reisen

In the 2023 summer flight schedule, the German airline will fly to the Greek destination Kefalonia from Graz and Linz on behalf of Rhomberg Reisen. The aircraft used will be de Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft. The start of charter flights is scheduled for May 25, 2023. The flights are scheduled to take place on the Thursday of each day. Air Baltic has taken delivery of 39 Airbus A220-300

Vancouver: “Textual threat” against Boeing 737-Max-8 of Flair Airlines

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, a passenger travelling on Flair Airlines flight F82799 from Edmonton to Vancouver received "electronic messages about a possible threat" on his cell phone. He immediately informed the crew. The Boeing 737 Max 8 with the registration C-FLZZ was affected. Due to the possible danger, which was taken very seriously by the authorities as a precautionary measure, the aircraft was "held" on the runway between 23:44 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. local time. In the meantime, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police carried out a thorough investigation of the medium-haul jet. A spokesperson for Flair Airlines said: "The passengers and crew disembarked after a brief investigation by a passenger into suspicious activity on board the aircraft." The passengers and crew were not allowed to leave the Boeing 737 Max 8 until around 2:15 a.m. local time. Both the airline and the police have given the all-clear because nothing threatening was found. "Real or perceived threats of any kind are thoroughly investigated. The safety of the flight crew, passengers and the public is always our top priority," said a police spokesman. Berlin: Air Malta Airbus A320 suffered bird strike
