Lufthansa: Airbus A380 should be used longer

Some of Lufthansa's aircraft will be taken out of service in the future. New aircraft are to be ordered instead. The Airbus A380, which was once on the verge of being phased out, will probably remain in use for some time. During the Corona crisis, Lufthansa, like its competitors, decided to give up its own superjumbos. The likelihood of these being put back into service was estimated to be very low. However, this changed after the manufacturer Boeing encountered complications with deliveries of the 777X. Finally, Lufthansa decided to keep using the superjumbos and reintroduce them. This will take place in summer 2023. The lifespan of the Airbus A380 is estimated to be several years. It has also been decided to bring two more A380s back into scheduled service.

In the last quarter, AerCap earned around 495 million euros, but this figure may change considerably as leasing rates increase.
