World2Fly has launched third A350-900

The travel group Iberostar has added a third aircraft to the Airbus A350 fleet of its subsidiary World2Fly. The first flight with the new addition took place last Friday on the Madrid-Havana route. Iberostar has two of its own airlines, World2Fly and World2Fly Portugal. Three Airbus A350-900s are currently registered at the Spanish AOC. These have the registrations EC-NOI, EC-NTB and EC-NZF. The Portuguese sister company operates the Airbus A330-300 with the registration CS-WFP. Another aircraft of this type is due to be put into operation shortly. The new addition is stationed at Madrid Airport and will be used from there to various destinations in the Caribbean. The Airbus A350-900 has 432 seats. The aircraft has the so-called Airspace cabin. "We are delighted with this new aircraft, which will take us another step in our growth plan and in our goal of having the most modern and sustainable fleet on the market. With this third A350, we can further expand our flight operations in the Caribbean and offer passengers the best possible service and maximum comfort," said Bruno Claeys, CEO of World2Fly. From November 2023, World2Fly will operate long-haul flights at Amsterdam-Schiphol. It will fulfill a wet lease contract with the Airbus A350-900 aircraft on behalf of Corendon Dutch Airlines. American football team helps out as porters on the Luton train

London Luton Airport has teamed up with American football team the London Blitz to help take some of the stress out of passengers on the rail service between London Central and the airport. A much-needed holiday should be a time of relaxation and enjoyment, but new research from Luton Airport reveals that for three in five (59%) holidaymakers, the journey to the airport can be a major source of stress during their trip. According to London Luton Airport's research, unexpected travel delays (48%) and lugging heavy luggage (26%) are among the main causes of stress. In fact, one in four (25%) even questioned booking a holiday when considering how much luggage they would need. And that's no surprise when you consider that British holidaymakers will be taking a whopping 921.795 tonnes of luggage abroad this summer. On 10 June 2023, the airport will offer a free luggage transport service for passengers boarding the new Luton Airport Express train from London St Pancras. The new 32-minute train service, which includes the new four-minute Dart shuttle service between Luton Parkway station and the airport terminal, will make the airport more accessible. With two-fifths (41%) of Brits saying they would feel less stressed if someone carried their luggage to the airport, the American football team will be on hand to huddle together and do the heavy lifting, allowing passengers to start their holiday even sooner. For six in ten (62%) holidaymakers who admit to having argued with loved ones about too much luggage,

After VKI intervention: Wesbahn waives three disputed clauses

The Association for Consumer Information has issued a warning to the private railway operator Westbahn on behalf of the Ministry of Social Affairs. The background is that the VKI lawyers are of the opinion that three clauses in the transport conditions are inadmissible. The transport company has issued a cease and desist declaration, so that the matter did not end up in court. Specifically, the case concerned three clauses which, from the consumer protection group's point of view, are intended to limit passengers' claims for reimbursement. This includes a clause which stipulates a maximum amount of 80 euros for the hotel in the event of an overnight stay due to cancellation, delay or missed connection on the same day. The Westbahn’s compensation conditions contained the following provision: “If it is not possible or reasonable for the passenger to continue the journey due to cancellation, delay or missed connection on the same day, WESTbahn will reimburse the costs for the hotel up to a maximum of EUR 80,00 (including VAT) unless WESTbahn itself organizes and pays directly for a hotel stay for the customer.” In the VKI’s legal opinion, such a maximum amount violates the Passenger Rights Ordinance. This provides for reimbursement of “reasonable costs incurred.” The ordinance does not specify a maximum amount, and there is no exception for suburban and regional transport. The VKI has therefore issued a warning about this and two other clauses. Westbahn reacted immediately and issued a cease-and-desist declaration with a penalty clause. The other two clauses contained too far-reaching a right to change the compensation conditions and non-transparent information about the consequences of contractual clauses that have become ineffective. “If passengers cancel a journey, e.g. B. due to a train cancellation, cannot continue late at night and the

Tips for the perfect camping at festivals

From tents to rubber boots - don't forget anything with the ÖAMTC travel checklist. The festival season has started again and to enjoy the festivals, the mobility club has put together some tips for music fans. "It's best to think about your journey and luggage in advance. A flashlight for searching at night, a power bank and earplugs for the night are important items that are often forgotten," says ÖAMTC travel expert Magdalena Draxler. Camping at the festival - must-haves and tips Arrival and setup: When planning your journey, you should pay attention to the distance from the train/bus station or car park to the campsite. Otherwise, extensive equipment can quickly become a burden. "When choosing a campsite, you should leave enough distance from others so that you don't trip over guy ropes in the dark. Also avoid pitches on the edge of fences - these places are often used as toilets," says Draxler. Tent: Small igloo tents are good for occasional campers as they can be set up quickly even in the dark. However, if you want to sit together with friends even in bad weather, you should opt for a communal tent - but it will take a lot longer to set up. You can find out which tent is best from the Austrian Camping Club at: www.campingclub.at/zeltkauf-ratgeber. Sleeping bag and sleeping mat: A good sleeping mat and sleeping bag are a must for the recovery phases. Inflatable mattresses are a comfortable alternative to sleeping mats. Clothing and hygiene: Rain poncho, rubber boots and cheap sunglasses are standard equipment for festivals. You should also always pack a thick sweater, socks and possibly a warm hat for bedtime. Hygiene items such as disinfectant, sunscreen or mosquito spray are

Exercise: Dortmund simulated an aircraft accident

On Saturday morning, a routine aircraft accident drill took place in the security area of Dortmund Airport. The airport fire brigade, the fire brigade and rescue service of the city of Dortmund, special units of the federal police and a team for psychosocial emergency care (PSNV) practiced together in order to be prepared for an emergency. The focus of the exercise was on fighting aircraft fires, rescuing people and coordinating the cooperation between the emergency services and authorities involved. In order to train for this, the collision of a small aircraft with a visitor bus was simulated. "The interaction between the emergency services worked well," said a delighted Dietmar Stange, head of the airport fire brigade, at the end of the exercise. "That can be crucial in an emergency." Another aim of the exercise was the successful deactivation of a rocket-powered rescue system (BRS) for aircraft and the recovery of the crashed small aircraft. The BRS is a parachute built into the aircraft that can be triggered by the pilot in the event of an emergency and is "shot" out of the aircraft by a rocket engine. After the parachute opens, the aircraft floats gently to the ground. "At Dortmund Airport, there are aircraft models in the general aviation sector that have rocket-powered rescue systems, so practicing deactivating such systems makes sense," said Stange. Overall, the head of the airport fire service was very satisfied with the exercise: "Fortunately, we rarely have serious real-life situations at the airport, but we still have to be prepared for emergencies and that means, above all, practicing."

Westbahn increases Innsbruck and plans extension to Bregenz

For several months, the private Westbahn has also been offering trips from Vienna via Salzburg to Innsbruck. Due to high demand, the number of daily routes will be increased from three to four from June 11, 2023. In autumn 2023, the plan is to increase the number of connections between Vienna and Tyrol and vice versa. The private railway operator is also planning to set a course for Bregenz. The Westbahn management makes no secret of the fact that it is benefiting greatly from the climate ticket, as this has literally "washed" passengers into the private provider's double-decker trains. They have also come up with a number of ideas to offer network card customers a few little goodies that are not available from the state-run competitor. For example, these include free seat reservations, free upgrades to Comfort Class and the opportunity to collect bonus points that can be redeemed at the coffee and snack machines, for example. Commuters in particular seem to be making intensive use of this. "Even before we started our train service to Tyrol, we assumed that we would get a good response; this had been suggested by the enquiries we had been receiving for years. The fact that our service was so well received within such a short time that we can increase the timetable is a positive development and a good basis for our further expansion strategy," says Westbahn boss Thomas Posch. From Vienna Westbahnhof to Tyrol, in addition to the departures at 7.08 a.m., 11.08 a.m. and 17.08 p.m. (arrival in Innsbruck at 11.29 a.m., 15.29 p.m. and 21.29 p.m.), there is another morning connection departing at 8.08 a.m. and arriving at
