August 2023: Norse Atlantic with 151.420 passengers

The long-haul low-cost airline Norse Atlantic Airways and its subsidiary Norse Atlantic UK had a combined total of 2023 passengers on board in August 151.420. According to the company, capacity utilization was 86 percent, an improvement of one percentage point compared to July 2023. The group claims that around 70 percent of flights arrived less than 15 minutes late. Nor did it have to cancel a single one of the 520 scheduled flight movements. Norse Atlantic Airways also emphasizes that there have been no cancellations since April 24, 2023. However, the route network has been thinned out in some places, so it can be assumed that this means that no cancellations have occurred immediately before the scheduled departure. "I am very pleased that our capacity utilization has continued to increase month after month. Demand for Norse's low fares and excellent service has been high throughout the summer. We had no cancellations for the fourth month in a row, which is a testament to our robust operations and dedicated colleagues across the airline. Looking ahead to the winter season, Norse Atlantic is well positioned to respond if oil prices continue to rise, as we have seen recently. Our ability to respond quickly and adjust our network when necessary, including careful control of our cost base, are the hallmarks of our low-cost operating model. The global freight market has continued to decline as rates and demand have fallen following the pandemic wave. Our competitive rates and direct route network offer good value for money for carriers, however our forecasts for

Test flights: Airbus A321XLR flies around the world

The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus is continuing the A321XLR test program, which is intended to lead to the certification of the model. Now one example is being sent on a ten-day tour around the world. The manufacturer currently assumes that the first unit can be put into service in the second quarter of 2024. The Airbus A321XLR is based on the A321neo and is a version with an even greater range than the A321LR, which is already in active scheduled service with some carriers. It is a narrowbody that can be used on long-haul routes. It is cheaper to purchase and operate than widebodies, which is why numerous airlines have ordered this model to use on routes where larger aircraft would not be profitable. In a way, it is also the successor to the aging long-haul version of the Boeing 757, because the US manufacturer cannot offer a direct successor in the single-aisle sector. This is precisely the gap that the Europeans want to fill with the A321LR and A321XLR models. While the first model has already been approved and is in scheduled service with many operators, the A321XLR is still in the certification process. Airbus is now sending a test aircraft on a ten-day tour around the world. The aircraft has been on the road since September 13, 2023 and is expected to complete at least 100 flight hours. Short- and long-haul flights are to be tested. In addition to the data that must be obtained for certification, the aircraft manufacturer is also using the tour for advertising purposes. It is hoped that the "live demonstrations" will help convince even more potential customers and encourage them to place orders.
