Hamburg: Schnieder Reisen is insolvent

A few days ago, Schnieder Reisen, a company specializing in Eastern European travel, had to file for bankruptcy. The tour operator is based in Hamburg and has appointed lawyer Hendrik Gittermann as the provisional insolvency administrator. It is currently planned that the business will continue. According to the company's own statements, the reason for the bankruptcy is also the war in Ukraine, as demand for trips to the Baltic states, Ukraine and Russia has plummeted dramatically. Mallorca: Air Europa 737 and Condor 757 came too close to each other

On the morning of September 19, 2023, the Boeing 737-800 operated by Air Europa with the registration EC-MJU made an unpleasant acquaintance with the Condor B757 D-ABOJ. The former aircraft touched the parked jet of the German airline. Only material damage was caused, which according to airport operator Aena is rather minor. Lufthansa is giving 38 Airbus A320 new cabins

From spring 2025, Lufthansa will initially be giving 38 Airbus A320s new cabin equipment. This also includes the installation of new luggage compartments that will offer more storage space for trolleys and the like. Holders for tablet PCs and smartphones on the seats are also new. The crane carrier has long since only included hand luggage in economy class in the cheapest fare classes. Anyone traveling with a 20 kg suitcase, for example, has to pay extra to drop it off at check-in. This practice means that significantly more trolleys and the like are being taken into the cabin than in the past. When planes are fully booked, there is often not enough storage space. Both manufacturers and cabin fitters have long since responded to this and are offering overhead bins with more capacity. These are exactly the kind of bins that are now being retrofitted in 38 Airbus A320s. According to Lufthansa, these should offer 40 percent more storage space. The new seats that are to be installed will each have a USB port that will enable smartphones to be charged. Special holders for mobile devices will also be installed. These are intended to make it easier for passengers to watch videos during the flight, for example. Lufthansa promises that the new seats from the Italian manufacturer Geven will also offer more legroom with the same seat pitch thanks to the ergonomic shape of the backrests.
