In September 2023, the Wizz Air Group had 5.538.773 passengers on board its Airbus fleet across the group. Compared to the same month last year, the number of passengers increased by 21 percent, even though some routes had to be reduced due to problems with Pratt & Whitney engines. The pink low-cost airline is likely to have benefited from the high capacity utilization, which increased to 92,4 percent. Last year, this figure was 87 percent and so far this year, it has averaged 84,6 percent. The significant improvement is not only due to the continued high demand, but also to the fact that fewer flights are available on some routes, so that existing connections are better utilized. Wizz Air also came up with a new experiment in September 2023. At some airports, videos are played on the airport screens before boarding, giving passengers recommendations on how to behave when boarding, flying and disembarking. According to the airline, this is how it wants to speed up boarding and deboarding, and thus further minimize the time spent on the ground. It remains to be seen whether the videos will have the desired effect, as experience has shown that advertising videos on airport screens are often hardly noticed. Airlines are always trying to speed up boarding. Some carriers have come up with so-called group boarding. Ultimately, however, the implementation depends on the ground staff, and they do not always adhere to the airline's instructions. With bus boarding, "boarding" in groups can be taken to the extreme, as in many cases the passengers are then re-boarded in the vehicle.
