Wiener Wurstelprater about to hit the seven million visitor mark

The Vienna Wurstelprater is one of the most famous attractions in the Austrian capital Vienna. There are currently many indications that a significant increase in visitor numbers has been achieved this year. The warm weather in autumn 2023 is said to have played a decisive role in this. "Cautious forecasts indicate that visitor numbers can break the seven million mark in 2023, a slight increase on the previous year's 6,8 million. Overall, we expect 2023 to be a good year for the Wurstelprater," said Silvia Lang, President of the Vienna Prater Association. A final Wurstelprater balance sheet with the economic data for 2023 will traditionally be announced in spring 2024. Numerous attractions are open all year round. There are also new indoor attractions such as "Jump World One" or the "Tritsch-Tratsch Concert Shows", which will also provide plenty of entertainment in the winter months. "At the end of October, the big Halloween festival awaits visitors and from mid-November the popular winter market will take place again," Lang recalls. For the coming year, City Councilor Peter Hanke announces that there will be another attraction with the Prater Museum, which is due to open. The City of Vienna's tourism marketing will place a special focus on the Prater next year. The aim is for even more tourists to visit the amusement park. "The increasing number of visitors for 2023 shows that the Vienna Wurstelprater is continuing to grow in attractiveness and is now more important than ever for Viennese tourism. As one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, it is a crowd puller for domestic and international guests and contributes to the diversity of the

Beirut: Middle East Airlines flies the fleet to Turkey

The airline Middle East Airlines has begun to take its fleet out of the country. Some aircraft were transferred to Istanbul overnight. The company wants to bring the fleet to safety due to the tense situation in the Middle East. Several airlines, including the Lufthansa Group and Condor, have already temporarily suspended their flights to/from Beirut. Those responsible currently consider it unsafe to fly to destinations in Lebanon. The background to this is that Israel's air force is attacking objects attributed to Hezbollah. The company has been firing rockets into Israeli territory for some time. There are fears that the war instigated by Hamas could spread. Middle East Airlines saw an urgent need for action and initially flew an Airbus A330-200 and four Airbus A321neo to Istanbul. The aircraft in question have the registrations OD-MEB, T7-ME3, T7-ME4, and T7-ME5, and they were transferred overnight. The T7-ME2 set off for Istanbul in the early morning of October 18, 2024. It is expected that the carrier will soon take the rest of the fleet out of the country to protect them from possible damage caused by war and/or combat operations. The company has not provided any information on this, only confirming that some aircraft are temporarily parked in Turkey for security reasons.

Türkiye: Pegasus wants to establish subsidiary airlines abroad

The Turkish airline Pegasus Air intends to set up branches abroad, which will have their own certificates. No countries have been explicitly named yet. The portal CH-Aviation.com reports that, according to managing director Güliz Öztürk, these will be countries in the east. The company wants to make the establishment of branches dependent on whether it can secure more traffic rights under the existing AOC or whether growth can be achieved through local subsidiaries. There are currently no plans to set up a branch in the European Union. Competitors such as Corendon and Freebird, for example, have local subsidiaries in Malta that fly to destinations that cannot be served with the Turkish AOC from EU airports.

Air Baltic: Frequent flyer program reaches one million members

Air Baltic's frequent flyer program has reached another milestone, as it now has around one million members. Around 70 percent of them are said to come from the Baltic states. "We are constantly looking for new ways to make the Air Baltic Club loyalty program more attractive to its members. We are therefore pleased that our efforts are recognized and that so many people are actively benefiting from the program. The increase in the number of new Air Baltic Club members is also due to a recently introduced innovation - the possibility of registering profiles of children and young adults (2-16 years) in the loyalty program. This feature allows entire families to participate and collect points together in a special Friends&Family account," says Māris Rudens, Head of Loyalty and Partnerships. There are three membership levels in total. If you take at least 30 one-way flights with Air Baltic within a year, you reach the Air Baltic Club Executive level. If you complete at least 60 one-way flights within a year, you will receive Air Baltic Club VIP status.

Pilatus launches revised PC-24

The PC-24 will have a maximum range of 2024 kilometers (3704 nautical miles) from 2000. Pilatus also has a number of new interior options. These include a large sofa that can be converted into a bed. The entire wing and fuselage structure was refined for this," says Bruno Cervia, VP Research & Development at Pilatus. Pilatus engineers conducted an extensive flight test campaign to extend the overall range for the higher design weights.
