Dan Air wants to move Brasov flights to Bacau

The Romanian airline Dan Air is apparently annoyed that the operating hours of Brasov Airport have still not been extended. This not only means that the flight program cannot be carried out as announced, but all flights are being relocated to Bacau. Dan Air, which previously specialized in ACMI and charter services, only entered the scheduled business this year. It offers some routes from Brasov and Bucharest. However, the former airport has had problems from the start, as the operating hours are limited and have not yet been extended. Specifically, this concerns the air traffic control service hours. Without ATC, the airport cannot be used commercially. This has an impact on Dan Air's activities, as the tightly timed flight schedule cannot be carried out as desired, as it would land outside of operating hours, which is not permitted. It has now been announced that an expansion is expected from mid-January 2024. But Dan Air does not want to wait any longer and has now officially announced that it will offer all Brasov flights from Bacau in the future. No exact date for the move has yet been given. It remains to be seen whether the disagreement regarding operating times is the only reason for the move from Brasov. In any case, competitor Fly Lilli has announced some routes from this airport. These are at least partially identical to those that Dan Air currently offers or plans to fly. Accordingly, it cannot be ruled out that the airline wants to avoid competition on niche routes.
