Eleven routes: Ryanair enters domestic business in Morocco

The low-cost airline Ryanair will also be offering domestic flights in Morocco in the future. The carrier will open another base in the African state. The carrier also intends to significantly expand international traffic between Europe and Morocco. It was recently announced that the Irish low-cost group has applied to the local authorities for approval for domestic flights. This is necessary because the airline is not a local carrier. Ryanair has received the green light for the project from the Kingdom of Morocco and has now been granted permission to operate eleven routes within the country. For the first time in the company's long history, the low-cost airline will be offering domestic flights on the African continent. In the 2024 summer flight schedule, 14 Ryanair Group aircraft will be stationed in Morocco. These will be distributed across the following airports: two in Tangier, two in Agadir, three in Frez and seven in Marrakesh. The company will add a total of 35 additional routes, eleven of which are domestic, and expand the range to 175 routes. In Morocco, there will be 12 airports in the route network in the future. Beni Mellal and Errachidia are new. “This is a historic day for the partnership between Ryanair and the Kingdom of Morocco. Ryanair is proud to announce a major investment of $2024 million in Morocco for Summer 1,4, carrying over 5 million passengers to/from and within the Kingdom of Morocco with our biggest summer schedule. ÖBB night trains have become significantly more expensive overnight

The night trains, which are heavily subsidised by the Austrian government in particular, are supposed to be a cheap and environmentally friendly alternative to short-haul flights, according to politicians. In some cases, however, these are significantly more expensive than flights and now the Austrian Federal Railways are turning the price screw up. The ÖBB have changed their pricing model without prior communication and introduced many new tariff levels. These are supposed to be based on supply and demand. In other words: the more people are interested in travelling by night train, the more expensive it becomes. A look at the reservation system shows that the state railway is charging even more, especially for couchettes and sleeping places. Prices turned up overnight without prior notice Night train connections were never cheap anyway. In many cases, even before the recent price increase, there were faster and cheaper alternatives by air. Considering that the Austrian federal government, for example, invests considerable sums in the form of subsidies in night train connections, it now seems questionable how the high prices can be justified. After all, Austria's Transport Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens), who herself often uses private jets, always argues that saving the climate can also be achieved through night train connections within Austria and Europe. It is all the more surprising that the Austrian Federal Railways have completely overhauled the tariff system for their night jets without prior communication. As is usual in aviation: passengers will only get cheaper in very rare cases. On average, this will mean a price increase - and a significant one at that. New tariff classes, higher
