To Orlando instead of Fort Myers: Spirit Airlines puts child on wrong plane

Many airlines offer escort services that allow children who have not yet reached the minimum age to fly alone to still travel. This is particularly appreciated by parents who are separated. The worst scenario: The child arrives at the wrong airport. This is exactly what happened in the United States of America. A six-year-old was supposed to fly from Philadelphia to Fort Myers. His parents booked the so-called UM service for him. Nothing should have gone wrong because the ground staff and flight attendants take care of everything. Actually. Spirit Airlines made a mistake because the child did not arrive in Fort Myers, but in Orlando. The budget airline did not initially notice the mishap. According to local media, the grandmother is said to have set everything in motion because she tried in vain to contact her grandson because she was told that he had missed his flight to Fort Myers. In fact, he did arrive in Orlando, but his luggage was at the actual destination. Spirit Airlines is said to have then taken care of getting the child to Fort Myers as quickly as possible. There is no explanation as to how it could have happened that neither the ground nor the cabin crew noticed that the "UM" was on the wrong aircraft. The airline simply refers to an internal investigation that is currently being carried out.

Stansted: Ryanair UK flight had to land back because of drug passengers

On December 8, 2023, flight RK7870, operated by Ryanair UK, was meticulously examined by the local police after a return landing in London-Stansted. There was a suspicion that several passengers on board may have consumed drugs. The plane was en route from Stansted to Marrakesh. Around an hour after takeoff, the plane returned to the third-largest airport in the capital of the United Kingdom. The background to the pilots' decision: some passengers on board are said to have consumed drugs and behaved extremely disruptively. After landing, not only were the suspected passengers escorted out of the Boeing 737 by the police, but the plane was then meticulously examined. The police were looking for evidence, such as drugs that had been hidden somewhere so that they would not be found immediately during the suspected arrest. The G-RUKE, a Boeing 737-800 operated by Ryanair UK, was used. Since the plane was temporarily “detained” by the police, the identical G-RUKG was used for the replacement flight. According to reports, the troublemakers were then no longer allowed to fly. The Daily Mail writes, among other things, that the Ryanair staff were massively insulted by the unruly PAX. However, no arrests were made, as the suspects are said to have been reported while at large. “The crew called the police and the plane was met by the local police on arrival at Stansted Airport. This is now a matter for the local police. In order to minimize the disruption to the passengers,

Mexicana comeback flight with diversion

On December 26, 2023, the new Mexicana finally took off. Before that, the date had been repeatedly postponed. The weather was not quite on its side at the time of the first flight, which was not fully booked, but at least the Boeing 737-800 was able to take off from Felipe Angeles International Airport. It is an aircraft that was previously used by the military. On government instructions, the military had to hand over some aircraft for operation by the new Mexicana, which is organizationally assigned to the armed forces anyway. In recent weeks, conversion, painting and re-registration have been carried out. The "old Mexicana" has not been in the air for some time due to insolvency. The restart is a prestige project of the government, which has had one or two teething problems. For example, it was not possible to organize enough aircraft in time, so the military had to step in. There is also an Embraer 145 on wet lease. However, the first flight could not be carried out to Tulum as originally planned, because the pilots had to divert to Merida due to poor visibility due to the weather. The "comeback flight" had the flight number 1788. The plane remained there until the weather improved. It then continued on to its actual destination. Local media claim that this was not the only reason for the stopover, because according to eyewitnesses, an unspecified liquid leaked from one of the two wings of the Boeing 737-800. During the unscheduled stop, technicians are said to have fixed this problem. Mexicana is to be positioned as a low-cost airline and undercut the rates of other carriers by an average of around 20 percent.

Housed in the former A380 "Jean-Luc Lagardère" building, the assembly line reflects Airbus' commitment to modernising the aircraft and meeting growing global demand for the A321neo, which now accounts for almost 65% of the A320 Family order book. The first finally assembled jet of this type has been delivered to Turkish leisure airline Pegasus Airlines. The Turkish airline currently operates 93 aircraft from Airbus, including six A320s, 46 A320neos and 41 A320neos. Pegasus Airlines is also awaiting the delivery of 68 more units of the latter type.
