Lufthansa is hiring: Skyalps is checking its base in Friedrichshafen

After Linz and Innsbruck, Lufthansa also has bad news for Friedrichshafen, because the Lake Constance Airport will no longer operate the hub connection to Frankfurt am Main in the 2024 summer flight schedule. The official reason given by the Kranich Group is that, due to engine problems with the A320neo fleet, the Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft, which are usually used on the Friedrichshafen route, are needed elsewhere. The group's sister company Air Dolomiti made a similar argument when announcing the discontinuation of the hub feeder flights from Linz and Innsbruck. According to Friedrichshafen Airport, negotiations are underway with the regional airline Skyalps about stationing at least one de Havilland Dash 8-400. The airport hopes that Lufthansa will at least enter into an interline agreement so that through tickets can be booked. Apparently, the conclusion of the aforementioned contract is a condition for Skyalps to open a base in Friedrichshafen. The Frankfurt route would then be taken over. For passengers transferring, a pure point-to-point connection without interlining would be quite useless, as any luggage would then have to be checked in again. Such an agreement makes it possible to combine tickets. It is not currently known whether a special pro rate contract is also being discussed. Without this, the standard fares from Friedrichshafen and then from Frankfurt would simply be "stitched together". This could mean that tickets would be significantly more expensive than before. According to reports, there is currently no talk of code sharing or even wet leasing. Skyalps boss Josef Gostner had announced such a collaboration with Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa, but this has not yet been confirmed by the two airlines. "Lufthansa's short-term decision is not good news

Christmas 2023: These were the most popular holiday destinations for Germans

Last year was marked by rising prices and economic uncertainty. Nevertheless, more passengers traveled at Christmas 2023 than in the previous year and spending around Christmas also increased. Bunq, Europe's second-largest neobank, in cooperation with the air passenger rights organization AirHelp, has determined where Germans preferred to spend their Christmas season in 2023 and what their spending is like in a recent study. For this purpose, flight data from December 24.12th to December 26.12th with departure in Germany and transactions made during this period were analyzed. Germany as the most popular travel destination during the Christmas season Whether a visit to family or a little time off: Most Germans celebrate Christmas in their own country - this is also shown by Bunq's data. More than half of German users (53 percent) spent the festive days on national soil. According to AirHelp's flight data, 11,6 percent of all flights departing from Germany during the holidays were domestic flights - with most domestic flights going to Munich (27 percent), Frankfurt (25 percent), Hamburg (12 percent) and Berlin (11 percent). 11,4 percent of passengers headed to Spain this Christmas with temperatures of up to 16 degrees - second place in the study. The country is becoming increasingly popular: compared to the previous year, more than twice as many Bunq users (130 percent) spent their holidays in Spain. Turkey ranks third among the most popular travel destinations in the study, with a share of ten percent of passengers. Another popular holiday destination for the 2023 Christmas season was the

The great Annapurna circuit with global hiking

The "Great Annapurna Circuit" in Nepal is at the top of the wish list for many trekking enthusiasts. Is it the magical attraction that emanates from the imposing 8000-meter peaks of the Himalayas or the scenic diversity of this species-rich mountain region? Is it the lure of encountering a fascinating foreign culture or the sporting challenge of crossing a pass like the 5.416-meter-high Thorong La once in a lifetime? It is probably the different facets, the contrasts and the many surprising, touching experiences that make this 21-day lodge trekking tour by Nepal travel expert Weltweitwandern a special "once-in-a-lifetime" experience. Weltweitwandern classifies the "Great Annapurna Circuit" as "moderately difficult to challenging" - the trekking tour is therefore aimed at travelers who also train their fitness in everyday life. The program includes 15 days of high mountain hikes with a walking time of at least four hours. The slowly ascending path at the beginning of the route allows acclimatization to the altitude step by step. The tour has many highlights in store: be it in the form of altitude meters mastered, overwhelming natural scenery, great views or moving experiences. The worldwide hikers cross the Thorong La Pass (5.416 m), reach Nepal's highest lake, Tilicho Lake (4.919 m) and visit the old royal cities of Bhaktapur and Kathmandu as well as the pilgrimage site of Muktinath. The route goes through dense rhododendron forests, to small villages such as Ghandruk, which is one of the most beautiful in the Himalayan state, and down into deep gorges. After the days of hiking in the mountains, the end of the trekking trip is a little more relaxed: at the thermal springs in Tatopani, the travelers treat themselves to a breather with a wellness touch before their three-week Nepal experience finally comes to an end.
