Passengers disappointed: No B777 on AUA short-haul flight

On January 16, 2024, some aviation enthusiasts were bitterly disappointed by Austrian Airlines. The OS205/206 flight was announced with the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, but nothing came of it. One angry passenger wrote to Aviation.Direct, among other things: "Here, too, numerous aviation enthusiasts had booked exactly these flights specifically after the announcement and were now bitterly disappointed, 'bitter' because OS gave no information as to why..." At short notice, a different aircraft was used instead of the planned widebody. Anyone who had booked this connection specifically to fly on the short-haul route with the Boeing 777-200ER was out of luck. When asked, Austrian Airlines explained: "Unfortunately, such plans often have to be changed or optimized spontaneously for a variety of reasons. We ask for your understanding in this regard."
