RSD Reiseservice receives award

RSD Reise Service Deutschland has now been awarded the title of "Top Tour Operator" for its "above-average tourist and economic performance". Two teams of specialists were involved in the comprehensive review and corresponding certification required for this: the tourism components were assessed by experts from Tourvers GmbH, a leading provider of the travel price guarantee certificate required by law. Tourvers insures more than 1.200 tour operators of all sizes and tourism sectors. The second team to examine the project was the renowned auditing company Rinke Treuhand, which carefully examined RSD's creditworthiness, i.e. its economic stability. For business partners and travelers, this is a decisive indicator of the reliability of a tour operator, especially in times of economic turbulence.

Lessor Azorra takes over entire Egyptair A220 fleet

The airline Egyptair has cashed in on its 12 Airbus A220-300 fleet as part of a purchase agreement with Azorra. The funds are needed, among other things, for down payments for long-haul aircraft ordered from Airbus. Due to the fact that the 12 Airbus A220-300s in question have an average age of 4,1 years, it can be assumed that Egyptair was able to achieve a respectable purchase price. Azorra is a global leasing company that has specialized in regional airliners from the A220 series and the Embraer E-Jet series in recent years. In the short term, this is a sale-and-leaseback deal. However, the leasing agreements that Egyptair has concluded with Lessor do not run for very long. The decommissioning of the regional jets has already been decided and was apparently also a key factor in Azzora's decision to take the deal. The Airbus A220 series is currently in high demand on the market because the model is characterized by a long range and comparatively low fuel consumption. Azorra boss John Evans indicated that there are already interested parties for the aircraft currently registered on Egyptair's AOC. Ideally, the aircraft will transfer to a new operator virtually seamlessly. In this context, the lessor clearly highlights the good condition and "excellent maintenance" of the 12 Airbus A220-300s including engines in a media statement. Azorra's portfolio currently consists of 95 aircraft. These are six Airbus A220-300s. The company is also awaiting delivery of a further 22 aircraft from the factory. Annual figures: DDSG had 310.000 passengers

DDSG, which specializes in operating cruises on the Danube, had around 310.000 passengers on its eight ships last year. In direct comparison with the figure achieved in 2022, the figure increased by 29,2 percent. "The wide range of themed cruises offers the local public many good reasons to set sail with the DDSG Blue Danube and enjoy moments of happiness on the ship. With the fleet expansion, we are heading towards a new passenger record in 2024 and will significantly expand the offer in the Wachau," says DDSG Blue Danube Managing Director Wolfgang Fischer. With over 40.000 passengers in Vienna and the Wachau, the shipping company achieved its strongest result of the last year in July 2023. On average, the DDSG Blue Danube welcomes over 25.800 passengers on board its seven ships. In scheduled services, they raise anchor 364 days a year. The ships set off on charter trips 200 times last year. Demand for exclusive ship charters for corporate events, private parties or weddings has increased by 20 percent. The shipping company expects further growth in this business area for the current year. The ships traveled a total of 39 times between Vienna and the Slovakian capital Bratislava between April and December 2023.

Traffic figures: This is how Austria's airports performed in 2023

Austrian commercial airports together had around 2023 million passengers in 33,2. This means that the airports were able to increase their traffic by 25,3 percent compared to the previous period and have reached 92,1 percent of the traffic volume they had before the corona pandemic. The lion's share of passengers came from Vienna-Schwechat. "After the pandemic lull, passenger numbers in Austrian air traffic have been rising steadily since 2021. Austrian airports are once again the lifeblood of their respective economic and tourism regions, and thousands of jobs have been created. But we must now stay the course and continue to assert ourselves in tough international competition. We must absolutely avoid a situation like in Germany, where the industry's wings were clipped and strikes are now paralyzing traffic. Austria's aviation must remain at the top, and for that it needs the best framework conditions," said Julian Jäger, President of the Association of Austrian Airports (AÖV) and CEO of Flughafen Wien AG, rejecting calls for a ban on short-haul flights or additional burdens on air traffic. In total, around 2023 million passengers were counted at all six commercial airports in Austria (Graz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Linz, Salzburg and Vienna) in 33.174.074, 25,3 percent more than in the previous year. The number of flight movements in scheduled and non-scheduled traffic increased by 259.006 percent compared to the previous year, with 16,8 take-offs and landings. The average aircraft capacity utilization (seat load factor) also increased, totaling 78,9 percent, an improvement of 3,5 percentage points compared to 2022. Vienna: Wizz Air stops flights to Kuwait and Nis

The low-cost airline Wizz Air has temporarily discontinued the non-stop connection to Kuwait City, which was heavily advertised a few months ago. The carrier is also giving up the Nis route from Austria. By giving up the Kuwait flights, the carrier is cancelling a second destination in the Gulf region, in addition to Dammam, which was added not so long ago. The destinations Riyadh and Jeddah can still be booked throughout the entire summer flight schedule period 2024. The Kuwait flights have been paused from Vienna for some time. There is currently fierce competition on the Nis route with competitor Ryanair. The airline is withdrawing from this because Wizz Air will no longer fly to this destination from Vienna-Schwechat at the end of the 2023/24 winter flight schedule period.
