Ryanair is expanding its Memmingen base

In the 2024 summer flight schedule, the airlines operating from Memmingen Airport will fly to around 50 destinations. The Ryanair subsidiary Malta Air is increasing the number of aircraft stationed there to four Boeing 737s. If you are planning a trip, you shouldn't do it without Memmingen Airport. With the start of the summer flight schedule on March 31, southern Germany's leading low-cost airport will offer over 50 attractive destinations in Europe and beyond. Among them are some new destinations. Whether it's a summer sun trip, a city or discovery trip or a visit to friends and relatives - the new flight schedule spans a dense network across Europe. This brings the travel destination of Croatia a little closer to the Allgäu. From April 2nd, there will be flights to Dubrovnik for the first time and from June 1st to Pula in Istria. Another Croatian destination is Zadar, which was already served by the airline Ryanair last summer. Rhodes and Sarajevo are celebrating comebacks. The capital of Bosnia will return to the flight schedule from April 4, 2024. Ryanair will start its flights to the popular Greek holiday island of Rhodes on April 1, which will also be served by Aegean Airlines from Memmingen every Saturday during the summer holidays from August 3 to September 28. On behalf of the travel group TUI, the airline will fly to Heraklion on Crete twice a week from May 21, which can also be reached from Memmingen via the airport in Chania. Another premiere for the new summer season is the flight to Tangier in Morocco on Easter Sunday. The Mediterranean port city in the north of the country is an ideal starting point for exploring the country and will now

Marabu introduces new Chief Operating Officer

There has been another change in management at Marabu Airlines, a holiday airline based in Estonia but mainly flying from Germany. Paul Fabian is now Chief Operating Officer. He succeeds Tony Larsson, who joined Marabu Airlines from Nordica/Xfly, with immediate effect. As part of his role as Chief Operating Officer, Fabian will also assume the duties of Accountable Manager. This makes him the first point of contact for the Civil Aviation Authority. After three decades in the aviation industry, Paul Fabian brings extensive management experience in operations. Most recently, he was Managing Director of the private British aviation academy Skyborne Aviation Ltd. Before that, he held leading positions at several international airlines, including COO of Air Malta and Green Africa Airways and Vice President Network Control at Emirates. "I am very much looking forward to taking on the COO position at Marabu," said Paul Fabian. "With the successful development over the last year and the ambitious growth plans, Marabu is currently one of the most exciting airlines on the European market. The dynamic team and the strong team spirit have impressed me from the very beginning. Together with my new colleagues, I would like to consolidate Marabu's operational stability and further improve the service experience for our passengers." According to the statement, Tony Larsson is said to have left the Estonian holiday airline, which is a sister company of Condor, at his own request. Permanent crisis: Boeing boss Calhoun announces resignation

The US aircraft manufacturer Boeing has been in a permanent crisis for many years, as it causes scandals at almost "regular" intervals. Now the CEO and the head of the civil aircraft division are stepping down. The pressure from all sides seems to be too great. How could Boeing transform itself from a model company into such a real "chaos mess"? For decades, aircraft manufactured by Boeing were considered the epitome of innovation, reliability and, indeed, safety. Innovation means that although the company brought one or two new products onto the market, it was rather conservative in many respects and left the "teething problems" to smaller manufacturers such as McDonnell Douglas or Lockheed Martin. Boeing followed suit when the technology was mature. For example, it stuck to the three-man cockpit for a comparatively long time and even supplied an Australian airline with a B767 with a type of panel for flight engineers at its special request. While the former blockbuster B727 was dependent on flight engineers, this was no longer the case with its successor, the B737, from the very beginning. In the meantime, considerably more B737s have been built in various variants than B727s. For many airlines, the Boeing 737 is the workhorse on short and medium-haul routes. Of course, there were fatal crashes before the Max variant, but competitor Airbus also has a bad record with the A320 family. Turning point: Takeover of McDonnell Douglas There was a striking turning point in Boeing's company history, because in the 1990s it took over its competitor McDonnell Douglas. The company that changed its abbreviation from "DC" to "MD" because

Frankfurt: Condor has reactivated Miami flights

With the Airbus A330-900, which has the registration D-ANRI, the holiday airline Condor reactivated the seasonal non-stop connection between Frankfurt am Main and Miami on Saturday, March 23, 2024. This route will be served three times a week in the 2024 summer flight schedule. Condor flies on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In the meantime, the carrier has retired the last Boeing 767-300ER, so that the long-haul flights have since only been operated with the much more modern Airbus A330-900. In summer 2024, Condor will fly to a total of 18 destinations in the USA.
