ANA has taken delivery of two “domestic B787-10”

The Japanese airline All Nippon Airways has taken delivery of two special Boeing 787-10s, registered as JA981A and JA983A. These are the first units to be specially configured for domestic Japanese traffic. Some routes within Japan are so busy that in the past models such as Boeing 747s with particularly close seating were used. At present, All Nippon Airways' domestic workhorses are the aging Boeing 777-300s. These are to be replaced by brand new B787-10s. The cabin configuration of the new jets includes 28 seats in Premium Class and 401 seats in Economy Class, making a total of 429 seats in both cabins. The airline also operates several 787-9s, which are also used exclusively on domestic routes within Japan. In addition, ANA currently has three 787-10s in use on international routes, although they are equipped in a three-class configuration with 294 seats. The first of these aircraft arrived at the airline in April 2019. Compared to the models otherwise used on long-haul routes, these differ in terms of the configuration of the cabin in order to be able to transport as many passengers as possible. According to All Nippon Airways, these special Dreamliners will mainly be used from Tokyo-Haneda to Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo and other major Japanese cities. Demand for domestic traffic is traditionally extremely high, so wide-body aircraft have been in use for many decades. In the last few days, ANA has taken delivery of two B787-10s that are to be used in this segment. These were transferred to Tokyo-Haneda with stopovers. They will soon be put into scheduled service within Japan.

Virgin Australia is considering changing its Max 10 order

According to local media reports, the airline Virgin Australia is considering adjusting its Boeing 737 Max 10 order. The airline is annoyed that no date has yet been set for certification by the FAA. Now it is considering converting it to the B737 Max 8. The Max 7 and Max 10 variants have not yet received approval from the FAA. Due to the recent problems at Boeing, it is not foreseeable that certification will take place quickly. This has an impact on customers, as Southwest Airlines, for example, is planning to go into 2024 without the Max 7s it has ordered. The Max 10 has also been experiencing delivery delays of several years. Virgin Australia ordered 25 of the largest version of the Max series some time ago. However, it is not foreseeable when deliveries will start. According to a report in the Australian Financial Journal, the carrier is currently examining whether the order could be partially or possibly completely converted into the smaller Max 8 variant. This has a smaller seating capacity, but the range is greater. Virgin Australia has not yet made a final decision. Much will depend on when the additional Max-8s can be received, as the US manufacturer is also experiencing significant delivery delays in this area. The airline was informed by Boeing that it would only receive four of the 13 Max-8s ordered this year. Significantly more units were contractually agreed. Overview of Virgin Australia's fleet: Type Number Boeing 737-700 9 Boeing 737-800 75 Boeing 737-Max-8 4

Marathon Airlines finds a new client in Cameroon

After being kicked out as a wet lease partner by Air Serbia, the Greek airline Marathon Airways has found at least some new orders for its Embraer fleet. However, not in Europe, but on the African continent. Camair-Co, based in Cameroon, confirmed upon request that it had wet leased three E-Jets operated by Marathon Airlines. According to a report by CH-Aviation.com, these are the aircraft with the registrations SX-PTM, SX-RMA and SX-KAA. These have since been transferred to Douala and are flying on behalf of Camair-Co. This enabled Marathon Airlines to at least partially compensate for the loss of the Air Serbia contract. The emphasis is on partially, because in the summer of 2024 it was supposed to fly with five E-Jets for the Serbian company. However, the contract was terminated without notice after an incident that occurred at Belgrade Airport. The preliminary investigation report strongly criticizes the pilots' decisions. According to CH-Aviation.com, the contract between Camair-Co and Marathon Airlines is initially for two years. So far, only the SX-RMA has been given the livery of the client. The other two Embraer jets will gradually also receive the livery of Camair-Co. Overview of the Marathon Airlines fleet: Aircraft type Number Embraer 175 3 Embraer 190 1 Embraer 195 3 Embraer Legacy 600 1
