In the dispute over higher salaries for Austrian Airlines' flight crew, the tourism division of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce is coming to the Lufthansa subsidiary's aid. In a press release, the company highlights, among other things, the "image damage" that is said to have been caused by the strikes and staff meetings. "Vienna as an internationally successful aviation hub is important for Austria as a whole as a tourism and business location. Anyone who deliberately destroys this is putting value creation and thousands of jobs at risk," said Robert Seeber, chairman of the Federal Tourism Division, commenting on the currently tense situation surrounding the AUA collective agreement negotiations. "For domestic travel agencies, flight cancellations due to strikes mean considerable, uncompensated additional costs. In the current situation, our customers have the clear advantage of having a contact person in their travel agency who can quickly take care of everything they need," emphasizes Gregor Kadanka, chairman of the Travel Agency Association, adding: "Good transport connections and accessibility are a crucial prerequisite for incoming tourism, but of course also for business travel and conference tourism." It would therefore be grossly negligent to endanger the continued existence of AUA and thus Vienna Airport as Austria's largest aviation hub, the two tourism representatives appeal for a quick and constructive solution in the interests of Austria as a tourism and aviation location before the next round of negotiations.
