Vienna Airport invites you to the fifth Airport Job Day

Vienna-Schwechat Airport is holding an open applicant day on April 18, 2024, this time focusing on construction, IT and technology. The fifth "Airport Job Day" on April 18, 2024 at Vienna Airport is all about jobs in the areas of IT, technology and construction: career starters, career changers and specialists can find out about vacancies, have initial discussions with recruiters and employees at the airport and, ideally, arrange an appointment for a follow-up interview straight away. At the "Airport Job Day" on April 18, 2024 at the Vienna Airport Conference & Innovation Center, interested parties will receive a lot of information and insights into activities in the areas of IT, technology and construction first-hand from employees from the respective specialist departments. In several sessions, the various departments will present specialist topics such as software development for airport operations, digitization in maintenance, and the role of the airport's construction department in AirportCity. There is also the opportunity to take part in a competition. If you are interested, you can have initial discussions on site with the airport's HR recruiting team. The event lasts from 16.00 p.m. to 19.00 p.m. and admission is free. From May 29, 2024: Hainan Airlines returns to Vienna

The Chinese airline Hainan Airlines will again connect Vienna-Schwechat Airport with Shenzhen from May 29, 2024. The route has been on pause since February 2020, as service was suspended until further notice due to the corona pandemic. From May 29, 2024, Hainan Airlines will again fly twice a week from Shenzhen to Vienna-Schwechat. According to a statement from the Austrian airport, this route will again be served all year round. The Chinese airline last had the route, which has now been announced for resumption, in its program in February 2020. With the start of the corona pandemic, Hainan Airlines temporarily suspended this flight connection. The airline has now announced its reactivation relatively late. For the time being, two rotations per week are to be operated. Depending on how demand develops, an increase is possible at a later date. "With Hainan Airlines, one of the most important airlines from China is coming back to Vienna. After a four-year break, it is once again possible to take off directly to the metropolis of Shenzhen. The Far East is an important market for Vienna Airport and the return of Hainan Airlines is a positive sign of the resurgence of tourism and the economy in Austria and China. We are very pleased to be able to continue the good cooperation with Hainan Airlines," explains Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG. Hainan Airlines will fly twice a week (Wednesday, Saturday) between Vienna and Shenzhen from May 29, 2024. The departure from Shenzhen will be at 02:05 a.m., arriving in Vienna at 07:55 a.m. The return flight from Vienna will depart at 11:05 a.m., arriving at 04:00 a.m. the following day.

International boating license is not valid in all states

Resolution No. 40 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on the issuance of International Certificates for Captains of Pleasure Boats was designed to simplify and standardize the cross-border recognition of these certificates. Despite these international efforts, Austrian sailors and boat captains face challenges because the recognition of such certificates is not uniform. In popular holiday destinations in particular, such as Spain, France, Italy, Greece, as well as Albania, Montenegro, Poland, Sweden and Denmark, the ICC certificate issued under this resolution is not automatically accepted. Restricted authorization: Even if a certificate is generally recognized, certain restrictions may exist, such as a limit on the distance from the coast for which the certificate is valid. Additional exams or certificates required: In some cases, countries recognize the basic scope of a certificate, but require additional local exams or proof for special sailing authorizations, such as night sailing or driving certain types of boats. This discrepancy between international and local regulations in individual countries means that Austrian holidaymakers have to study the requirements of the destination country in detail in order to navigate safely and in accordance with the law. The label "international" on a boating license does not guarantee worldwide recognition or authorization to operate a pleasure boat in all waters. Austrian sailors and boaters who plan to use their skills in international waters (foreign countries) must plan and prepare carefully. This can often require obtaining additional local certificates or permits to meet the specific requirements of each country. The situation underlines the need for a flexible and well-informed approach to sailing and

Czech Republic: Long-haul demand increased sharply

The Czech travel group Student Agency Travel, which includes the long-distance bus and rail operator Regiojet, is currently seeing increased demand for tickets for long-haul flights. Since the beginning of 2024, the company says it has been able to sell seven percent more tickets. Around 45 percent of customers are said to have opted for long-haul flights. 40 percent are for destinations in Europe and 15 percent for destinations in the Middle East, according to Student Agency. Travelers' interests seem to be changing, as the company is not able to achieve growth on all routes. There have been declines in the sale of tickets to the following countries: Thailand (-7%), Indonesia (-2%), Mexico (-36%), Mauritius (-23%), South Africa (-18%), Kenya (-7%), Tanzania (-49%) and Singapore (-30%). The following destinations seem to be very popular with Czech passengers: USA (+28%), Vietnam (+35%), Sri Lanka (+70%), Japan (+29%), the Maldives (+28%), Canada (+28%), Nepal (+155%), Australia (+14%), Oman (+40%) and Costa Rica (+27%). According to Student Agency, demand for the People's Republic of China has also increased again. The travel group has also noticed changes in the timing of ticket bookings: up to 27% of travellers buy their tickets more than three months in advance, almost 35% between one and two months before the planned departure and 17% within a month before departure. It is also interesting to note that 20% of travellers only book their tickets shortly before departure.
