According to the operator, the reason for this is that time-consuming maintenance has to be carried out on three of its own aircraft. According to a report by Ex-Yu-Aviation, the Airbus A320 with the registration 9A-CTL, the A319, which is registered as 9A-CTK, and the de Havilland Dash 8-400 9A-CQC are affected.

The Lufthansa Group is giving a total of four Airbus A320s, which are operated by Lufthansa, Eurowings, Brussels Airlines and Austrian Airlines, special stickers. With the clear statement "Yes to Europe", Lufthansa Group aircraft will be flying across their European homeland from this week. A total of four Airbus A320s will thus become ambassadors of the European idea shortly before the European elections. The lettering can be read eye-catchingly on the fuselage and is framed by the European wreath of stars. Lufthansa and Eurowings, whose connection to Europe is even at the core of their brand name, are starting things off. This week, both airlines are sending an aircraft covered in special foil into the sky. Next week, one aircraft each from Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines will take off. On May 13, 2024, all four Lufthansa Group aircraft will meet at Brussels Airport. Already in 2019, before the European elections, Lufthansa had adorned an aircraft with a commitment to Europe.

Canary Islands: Mass demonstrations against tourism

Last weekend, there were large demonstrations by the local population in various places on the Canary Islands. They took to the streets to protest against mass tourism. The Canary Islands are considered to be an extremely popular holiday destination, but also completely overrun by tourists. The fact that new hotels are to be built does not seem to suit everyone. Participants are also upset that the authorities are only very lax in their control of the private rental of rooms, holiday homes and fincas. In this segment, a lot of business is carried out without licenses and under the table. They are demanding that tourism be regulated. Among other things, they point out that around 2,2 million people live on the islands, but last year alone there were around 14 million tourists - and the number is rising sharply. The police say that around 20.000 people took part in the demonstrations. The organizers even say there were 50.000 participants.
