Negotiations over a collective agreement at German Airways continue to stall

Despite numerous attempts in recent months to collectively regulate the working and pay conditions of pilots at the German Airways airline, management continues to refuse to do so, claims the VC. Marcel Gröls, head of collective bargaining policy at the Cockpit Association, expressed concern about German Airways' attitude: "We cannot understand why German Airways is not prepared to regulate and thus improve the conditions of pilots through a collective agreement that is reliable for the employer as well, and would rather accept that the resulting fluctuation in the workforce remains above average." Gröls stressed the urgency of abandoning the refusal and fulfilling the employees' wish for collective bargaining. The Cockpit Association is committed to the interests of pilots and is striving for constructive negotiations in order to achieve appropriate improvements. The management of German Airways must now decide whether to continue to forego a collective agreement or to seek dialogue with the pilots, the union appeals.

Helsinki Airport wins Skytrax Award again

Passengers have voted Helsinki Airport the best airport in Northern Europe in a global customer satisfaction survey conducted by Skytrax. The award was presented to Finavia in Frankfurt on 17 April 2024. “It is fantastic that air passengers have once again chosen Helsinki Airport as the best airport in Northern Europe! In the survey, air passengers broadly assessed the service standard and customer experience at airports at different stages of the passenger journey. This includes check-in, security check, shopping and dining options, and services for arriving and transferring passengers. "Developing the customer experience was at the heart of the most extensive development program in Helsinki Airport's history, which resulted in a complete redesign of the airport. In 2023, for example, we increased the amount of liquids allowed at security checks to two liters, opened a total of 26 shops, restaurants and cafés at the airport and modernized baggage logistics.
