Intercontinental Almaty: It's the little things that count

When it comes to five-star hotels, the Intercontinental hotels are among the top addresses in many cities. This is also the case in the Kazakh metropolis of Almaty, where a franchisee operates a particularly large "Intercontinental". Intercontinental is a five-star brand of the IHG Hotels Group, whose headquarters are near London. Many hotels are operated by the company itself, but definitely not all of them, as numerous locations are managed by franchisees on their own account. This is also the reason why there have been repeated brand changes in some cases, although the hotel company remains the same. The Intercontinental Almaty is operated by a local licensee with a Turkish background. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, it was the first "western" hotel to specialize heavily in seminars and conferences. This has not really changed to this day, as the hotel is still considered the top address in the city when it comes to such events. There are various rooms available for this purpose and the hotel's own restaurants take care of your physical well-being. Spacious rooms with lots of little extras Like all Intercontinental hotels, there are various room categories available, from standard to luxurious suites, which then have their corresponding price per night. The "normal" rooms are spacious and boast numerous amenities and extras for guests. For example, the operators provide several free bottles of water, coffee powder, tea, a kettle, a coffee machine, shoe polishing equipment, razors, toothbrushes, sewing kits, bathrobes, slippers and much more. Interestingly - and unfortunately no longer common even in five-star hotels - everything is cleaned daily.

Riyadh Air places major order with Airbus

The new Saudi airline Riyadh Air is taking an ambitious step into international aviation: The order for 60 Airbus A321neo aircraft was officially announced as part of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh. This order marks a significant milestone for the airline, founded in 2022, which is part of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and operates as part of Saudi Arabia's plans for a global tourism and aviation strategy. The latest order, worth around 4 billion US dollars - based on list prices - ensures that Riyadh Air will operate one of the most efficient fleets in the world. The A321neo aircraft are the largest model in Airbus' A320neo family and offer fuel savings of around 20 percent and a noise reduction of half compared to older models thanks to modern technologies such as new engines and sharklets. According to Airbus, this fleet will make a "concrete contribution" to Saudi Arabia's sustainability goals. The collaboration between Airbus and Riyadh Air was praised by Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, as a reflection of the global and local growth of Saudi aviation. Riyadh Air plans to launch its flight services in 2025, making it one of the main pillars of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, a government initiative aimed at diversifying the Saudi economy beyond the oil sector and making the country a tourism and investment hub. Riyadh Air's strategy and recent major orders support the Kingdom's goal of attracting up to 150 million tourists annually and flying to over 150 international destinations.
