Aviation congress in Vienna: The Vienna CESEE Airport Forum 2024

From 4 to 6 December 2024, the Vienna CESEE Airport Forum will take place at Vienna Airport, an international expert symposium that focuses on the growing role of the Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe (CESEE) region in the global aviation sector. Under the auspices of Airports Council International (ACI) Europe and Vienna Airport, high-profile representatives from aviation, business and politics will come together to discuss the challenges and opportunities of this dynamic region. At a time when the aviation industry is reorienting itself after the crises of recent years, the forum offers a platform for the exchange of ideas and strategies to promote air transport in CESEE. The CESEE region is considered one of the fastest growing markets in Europe. In contrast to the fragmented aviation policies of many Western countries, the CESEE region is well positioned to reap the benefits of increasing traffic volumes. Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI EUROPE, highlights that the Forum represents a valuable opportunity for international stakeholders to shape the future development of air traffic in the region and to put the region's air traffic on a successful path. Economic importance and challenges of the CESEE region The aviation industry in CESEE has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, which can be attributed to several factors. First of all, the ongoing economic development and the advancing European integration are favouring the aviation markets in this region. Vienna, as a central hub for air traffic, plays a crucial role in this. Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG, emphasises the different growth dynamics in global air traffic and

Corporate Unwellness: An Art Exhibition on Alienation in the Workplace

From November 14 to 24, 2024, an innovative exhibition entitled "Corporate Unwellness" will take place in a vacant office at Dornbacher Straße 59 in Vienna's 17th district. Organized by the newly founded artist collective "Schindel LLC", the show sheds light on the complex and often stressful aspects of the modern workplace. Given the increasing importance of home offices and digital work, the exhibition reflects over 50 artistic positions that address everyday office life as a place of alienation, isolation and creative potential. The exhibition addresses the office workplace not only as a physical space, but also as a social construction shaped by productivity pressure and social expectations. The organizers, Paula Oberndorfer and Esther Stern, have set themselves the task of combining the perspectives of artists from Austria and internationally to paint a comprehensive picture of the current challenges. At a time when many people are working from home and the boundaries between work and private life are blurring, the workplace is often perceived as a “non-place”. The rooms in which the exhibition takes place have been deliberately chosen. The sober and functional office structures offer a sharp contrast to the usual, often sterile exhibition spaces. Here, art is presented in a context that is close to the social reality of many workplaces. Artistic works in the form of painting, sculpture, ceramics, prints, drawings and digital media invite visitors to reflect on the dystopia and utopia of modern working environments. The exhibition is complemented by a curated feature that focuses on digital and post-digital art. “A Cubical, Terminal”, under the

Close Klagenfurt Airport – and then?

Public travel to surrounding airports in Carinthia: An analysis in 2024. This fact-based report focuses primarily on the assumption that Klagenfurt Airport is closed and a nearby airport is to be reached. However, the "car" means of transport is deliberately excluded from the analysis and travel may only be made by public transport. The Klagenfurt main station location is chosen as the starting point. The report aims to explain why a closure of Klagenfurt Airport in 2024 is simply not conceivable and which infrastructural construction sites would have to be resolved first in order to justify this in any way. Geographical map of Klagenfurt Airport Travel time calculations In order to be able to carry out a fair assessment, a normal working day (Monday - Friday) and a departure time in the range of 08:00 a.m. - 16:00 p.m. are targeted for all airports. 2 - Graz Airport The current journey to Graz Airport from the Carinthian state capital can be made in two ways. Option 1: The so-called ÖBB Intercitybus (ICB) runs on the Klagenfurt-Wolfsberg-Graz route and back: The bus runs 14 times a day between the two state capitals in the south of Austria and takes 2 hours, according to the ÖBB website. Afterwards you have to change to tram line S5 at Graz main station, which stops at Graz airport in 11 minutes. Total time: 2 hours and 36 minutes. Option 2: It is also possible to take the train along the classic southern railway line to the Bruck an der Mur station, change there to the train to Graz HBF and take tram line 5 back to Graz airport.
