Holiday on Ice No Limits: A top-class spectacle in the Vienna Stadthalle

From January 16, 2025, the Viennese audience can expect an extraordinary experience: With "Holiday on Ice No Limits", the world's best figure skaters will perform spectacular choreographies on the large ice surface of the Vienna Stadthalle that push the boundaries of the imaginable. With breathtaking acrobatics, impressive lighting effects and a soundtrack that reflects the music history of the last decades, this event will be an unforgettable highlight of the winter year. Directed by Kim Gavin, a renowned creative who recently developed Adele's Las Vegas show and is currently working on Robbie Williams' European concerts, "No Limits" promises more than just an ice show. For this project, Gavin was inspired by the dynamics and visual effects of modern computer games, whose rapid changes between different game worlds form the basis of the concept of "No Limits". The audience is invited to experience a limitless journey with the main characters Flynn and Sadie, which is characterized by a brilliant mixture of dance, acrobatics and modern technology. Innovation on the ice: lighting effects of the future The centerpiece of the show is a huge LED wall, which has a movable cube shape in the middle and fits into the action as a flexible element. But the real technical highlight are the kinetic lighting elements that float above the ice: over 200 light balls, controlled by more than 200 motors, move at different speeds and brightnesses, creating spectacular effects. The illusion of floating drones reinforces the futuristic ambience and blurs the line between reality and fantasy. Another visual accent is provided by the artistic synchronization

Highlight of fine cuisine in the heart of Klosterneuburg: “Das Kritz” in the Amtshaus

If you want to surprise your partner with an exceptional restaurant, you should take him or her to “Das Kritz”. This very small restaurant with around 30 seats is located in an exceptional setting in an office building. It is new, very elegant and freshly decorated. The room of this restaurant has a lot of natural light, due to a large number of windows. It is closed Monday to Tuesday. From Wednesday it is open to guests from 11:30 a.m. to 22:00 p.m. (kitchen until 21:11 p.m.). On Sunday from 30:17 a.m. to 00:14 p.m. (kitchen until 00:XNUMX p.m.). This gourmet ambience is characterized by its motto: “For us, enjoyment comes first: we rely on fresh ingredients, homemade Austrian cuisine and a warm atmosphere”. I can personally confirm this, because if you are looking for fresh cuisine with a small menu, this is the right place. The restaurateurs offer freshly tapped beer, which is rather unusual for a small restaurant. Furthermore, the feeling of being invited to a friend's house is conveyed, simply an atmosphere like at home. It is also worth mentioning that the operators allow the guest to see their partners and supplier list. For example, they order vegetables from Weingut Windisch, Transgourmet and Rungis Express. The meat is supplied by Wiesbauer, as well as Thorhof Fisch & Wild. They also get the fish from Thorhof Fisch & Wild, as well as Rungis Express. The "Kritz" works with seven different wineries: Niki Windisch, Weissinger, Edwin Weber, Kolkmann, K + K Kirnbauer, Krutzler, Zöhrer, Alphart, Thomas Schwarz. Bread and pastries are

Record year for Icelandair: 4,7 million passengers in 2024

Icelandic airline Icelandair has set a new record in 2024, carrying 4,7 million passengers, up 9% year-on-year. In December alone, 312.000 passengers were counted, up 18% from December 2023. Passengers were split between trips to Iceland (28%), from Iceland (19%), through Iceland (47%) and within the country (6%). Flight punctuality improved to 82,7% on average for the year, despite weather-related challenges in December. Load factor also reached a record high of 82,6% in December, up 10,2 percentage points year-on-year. The increase is partly due to increased demand across all markets, after volcanic activity in Iceland impacted figures last year. Icelandair also saw growth in the leasing business: Block hours sold increased by 65% in December compared to the previous year, which contributed to better utilization of the aircraft in the winter months. However, cargo performance fell by 7% in December, measured in freight tonne-kilometers. President and CEO Bogi Nils Bogason also highlighted two milestones: the maiden flight of the airline's first Airbus aircraft and the move to the new headquarters in Hafnarfjörður. For 2025, Icelandair expects route network growth of 8%, with a focus on capacity optimization in off-peak months.

WestJet under pressure: Court demands release of documents on harassment allegations against flight attendants

WestJet, Canada's second-largest airline, is currently at the center of a legal battle that is forcing the airline to release records of incidents of harassment and sexual assault against flight attendants. The Supreme Court of British Columbia ordered WestJet to produce its records of harassment complaints after the airline showed a slow attitude in providing those documents. The investigation is related to a class action lawsuit filed back in 2016 accusing the airline of violating its obligation to create a safe and respectful workplace for flight attendants. The lawsuit, supported by several flight attendants, accuses the airline of failing to adequately respond to complaints of harassment, with particular focus on allegations of male pilots' behavior toward female flight attendants. The case has attracted widespread attention in Canada as it highlights both working conditions in the aviation sector and the accountability of large companies in handling harassment allegations. The Class Action Case and Allegations The class action lawsuit against WestJet was filed in 2016 after several flight attendants claimed that the airline had failed to meet its obligations under their employment contracts. According to the plaintiffs, WestJet had repeatedly failed to provide a safe, harassment-free workplace. This failure resulted in a number of complaints ranging from sexual assault to inappropriate workplace behavior. The lawsuit relates to incidents that spanned an extended period of time and for which the plaintiffs say the airline failed to respond adequately. WestJet, as stated in the public reports,

Muan Airport remains closed for the time being after serious plane crash

Following the tragic plane crash on December 29, 2024, which killed 179 people, Muan International Airport in South Korea remains closed. The South Korean Ministry of Transport extended the closure of the airport in the southwest of the country until January 14 in order to conduct comprehensive investigations and necessary safety measures. The accident occurred when a Boeing 737-800 belonging to the low-cost airline Jeju Air from Thailand overran the runway during landing without its landing gear extended, hit a wall and caught fire. Of the 181 people on board, only two crew members survived. The exact cause of the accident remains unclear. Initial investigations indicate possible bird strikes that may have damaged the aircraft. Regardless, there was criticism of the airport's infrastructure. Experts criticized the placement of the wall at the end of the runway, which did not meet international safety standards. The extension of the closure is not only intended to investigate the incident, but also to enable the implementation of possible changes to the airport site.

Nepalese helicopter flights in the Everest region suspended: A conflict between progress and tradition

Nepalese aviation and airline companies suspended helicopter operations in the Khumbu region, home to Mount Everest, on January 5, 2025. This was in response to ongoing protests and growing tensions with the local Sherpas and the local population. The conflict revolves around the impact of helicopter operations on the environment, the threat to Sherpas' jobs, and the increasing threat to the local economy posed by modern air transport. Helicopter flights to the Everest region, which were mainly used by tourists seeking a quick way to reach Everest Base Camp, had gained popularity in recent years. But this development has not only changed the landscape of Nepal, but also greatly affected the lives of local people. The decision to suspend operations is a dramatic step that could have far-reaching implications for tourism and the local community. The Increasing Use of Helicopters in the Everest Region The Khumbu region in northeastern Nepal, home to Mount Everest, is a rugged terrain that is difficult to reach by conventional means of transport. In the past, local Sherpas took on a central role in transporting equipment and people to the region's high peaks. This strenuous work was an important part of the local economy, as Sherpas are involved in many aspects of mountaineering and tourism. In recent years, however, there has been a growing trend for helicopters to take on an increasingly larger role in transport and emergency services. In particular, hikers seeking to reach Everest Base Camp are increasingly using

Crash of Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer E-190: Brazil evaluates data recorders

On December 25, 2024, a tragic accident occurred in western Kazakhstan when an Embraer E-190 operated by Azerbaijan Airlines crashed. The aircraft, which was en route from Baku-Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Azerbaijan to Grozny Airport in Russia, crashed, claiming the lives of 38 of the 67 passengers. The cause of the crash, which initially seemed mysterious, may be linked to a Russian air defense incident, making the investigation an internationally explosive case. Flight J28243, which flew from Baku to Grozny on December 25, 2024, was in Kazakhstan's airspace when the accident occurred. There were 62 passengers and five crew members on board. The circumstances of the crash are still unclear, but the incident raises many questions. After the crash, there was immediate speculation that the plane may have been accidentally shot down by Russian air defenses operating near Grozny, Russia that day. This assumption was supported by the Azerbaijani authorities, who assumed that the downing was unintentional. However, Russia denied any responsibility and simply stated that the incident occurred in Russian airspace, without admitting direct guilt. The role of the black boxes and the international investigation Immediately after the crash, the plane's black boxes were found and handed over to the Brazilian Center for the Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents (CENIPA). On January 6, 2025, CENIPA confirmed that the data had been extracted from the flight recorders. These flight recorders record both cockpit conversations and flight data and could provide crucial clues
