Munich Airport records strong passenger growth

Despite the ongoing economic crisis, Munich Airport is reporting significant increases in passenger and flight numbers for 2024. A total of 41,6 million travelers used Germany's second-largest airport, an increase of four and a half million over the previous year. The number of takeoffs and landings rose by eight percent to more than 327.000 flight movements. International air traffic in particular contributed significantly to this growth. According to airport operator FMG, flights within Europe and to Mediterranean destinations increased by 12 percent, while long-haul traffic even recorded an increase of 17 percent. This development underlines the importance of Munich Airport as an international hub and important location for business and mobility. Airport boss Jost Lammers explained in this context that the figures reflect the high demand for air travel and confirm the importance of the location for Bavaria and beyond. Experts attribute the growth to the waning effects of the corona pandemic, which has revived interest in long-distance travel and international destinations. According to economic surveys by the Ifo Institute, travel agencies and tour operators are among the few sectors with optimistic future prospects.

Debate on night rest initiative: Government Council speaks out against restrictions at Zurich Airport

The "Night Rest Initiative", which calls for the reduction of operating hours at Zurich Airport, has met with clear rejection from the Zurich government council. In a clear statement, the council stressed that the proposed measures violate federal law and would have serious consequences for Switzerland's international connections. Zurich Airport, a central hub for Swiss air traffic, is once again at the center of a controversial debate. The "Night Rest Initiative" aims to end flight operations at Zurich Airport as early as 23:00 p.m. According to federal regulations, the airport is currently open to civil air traffic until 23:30 p.m., with the last half hour reserved for the reduction of delays without the need for a permit. A reduction in operating hours would therefore mean a reduction in the time windows for delayed take-offs and landings, which would have far-reaching consequences, particularly for intercontinental flights. Rejection by the government council The government council of the canton of Zurich made it clear that the initiative could not be implemented because it violated federal law. This regulates the airport's operating hours conclusively and does not allow any further restrictions. In addition, the government council stressed that the current operating hours are essential for Switzerland's international connections. Around 200 direct connections from Zurich guarantee connections to important economic centers worldwide - a decisive factor for Switzerland as a business location. Importance of operating hours for air traffic Zurich Airport functions not only as a local transport hub, but also as an international hub. The late evening hours in particular are crucial for maintaining the complex processes of hub operations. A reduction in operating hours would not only affect intercontinental connections, but also short and medium-haul flights. This could reduce the attractiveness of Zurich Airport as a

Embraer increases aircraft deliveries by 2024 percent in 14

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced its delivery results for 2025 at the beginning of 2024. According to the figures, deliveries increased by 14 percent compared to the previous year. A total of 206 aircraft were delivered, an increase of 25 aircraft compared to the 181 deliveries in 2023. It is particularly noteworthy that deliveries of commercial aircraft exceeded private jets this year, underscoring the continued strong growth in demand in the commercial aviation sector. Embraer, known for its production of both commercial aircraft and private jets, saw growth in both categories. Deliveries of commercial aircraft increased by 14 percent to a total of 73 aircraft, compared to 64 deliveries in 2023. Deliveries of private jets increased by 13 percent to 130 aircraft - an increase of 15 aircraft compared to the previous year, when 115 private jets were delivered. The increase in deliveries in 2024 marks positive growth for Embraer, especially after the company had made its forecasts more cautious last year. At the beginning of 2024, Embraer had set a target of 72 to 80 commercial aircraft and between 125 and 135 private jets for 2024. However, during the course of the year, this forecast was revised downwards, and the company now aims to deliver around 70 to 73 commercial aircraft and still 125 to 135 private jets. The fact that Embraer was able to exceed its delivery figures despite these cautious forecasts shows the strength and flexibility of the company in global competition. Successful deliveries of the E190-E2 A particularly positive signal for Embraer came from the
