Corendon Airlines expands summer flight schedule in Nuremberg

The holiday airline Corendon Airlines is strengthening its presence at Nuremberg Airport and is expanding its flight offering for the summer of 2025 at short notice. Capacity on popular routes to the south will be increased, especially in the month of Pentecost in June. Demand from the Nuremberg metropolitan region is high, as a spokesman for the airline confirmed. With additional flights to popular holiday destinations, Corendon is responding to customers' increased desire to travel. Corendon Airlines, whose headquarters are in Nuremberg's twin city of Antalya, has been an integral part of air traffic between the Franconian metropolis and the Turkish Riviera for 15 years. Since establishing a base in Nuremberg in 2019, the airline has continuously expanded its offering. The 2025 summer flight schedule includes up to 15 destinations from Nuremberg. The offering is now to be increased with additional capacity during the Pentecost holidays. Antalya, Corendon Airlines' most important destination, will be served up to three times a day in June. In addition, there will be additional flights on four days of the week, offering travelers even greater flexibility. Other popular destinations such as Mallorca, Heraklion on Crete and the Greek islands of Kos and Rhodes also benefit from additional frequencies. Corendon Airlines is positioning itself as a provider for both package holidaymakers and individual travellers. In addition to cooperation with tour operators, the airline sells individual tickets, which opens up a broad target group. Also noteworthy is the creative adaptation to the cultural preferences of its customers: Corendon Airlines has recently started offering kebabs on board flights to Turkey. The dish, consisting of a flatbread pocket with grilled meat and salad, was well received by passengers and even attracted media attention. Competition

Austrian Airlines expands summer flight schedule 2025 – will the diversity remain competitive?

Austrian Airlines has presented its 2025 summer flight schedule, which features 127 destinations and a variety of short, medium and long-haul flights. Particularly noteworthy are the numerous destinations in the Mediterranean region and the expanded offering to Northern Europe. But given the increasing competition from low-cost airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air, the question arises as to whether Austrian Airlines' traditional offering will continue to be attractive to price-conscious customers. With 105 short and medium-haul destinations and up to 1.374 flights per week, Austrian Airlines stands out positively compared to other network providers. The focus on destinations such as Greece, Italy and Spain covers the typical holidaymaker's needs well. However, low-cost airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air have long since established similar or even more extensive offerings from Vienna - often at significantly cheaper prices. Ryanair, for example, offers a wide portfolio of Mediterranean destinations, including many smaller airports that Austrian Airlines does not serve. Wizz Air also scores with connections to Eastern European destinations that are missing from Austrian Airlines' flight schedule. The expansion of Austrian Airlines' offering to include destinations such as Edinburgh, Sylt and the Lofoten Islands has breathed new life into the flight schedule. But competition remains tough here too. Ryanair also flies to Edinburgh and offers this at prices that are often well below Austrian Airlines' rates. For destinations such as Reykjavik or Tromsø, which appear to be exclusive destinations for Austrian Airlines, there is currently no direct alternative from Vienna among its competitors - a possible advantage that remains niche, however. Long-haul connections: classic destinations, limited innovation With 18 long-haul destinations, including

Matschke takes on the role of Götz Schubert, who has to take a break from his performance due to illness. For Matschke, this engagement not only marks his debut at the Vienna Volksoper, but also his first step into the operetta field. Matthias Matschke is one of the most versatile German actors of his generation. After his training at the Berlin University of the Arts, which he completed in 1996, he was engaged at renowned theaters, including the Schauspiel Frankfurt and the Volksbühne Berlin. In addition to his theater work, Matschke made a name for himself through numerous film and television productions. His appearances in the comedy series “Pastewka”, the “Heute-Show” and in films such as “Sonnenallee” and “Der Palast” illustrate his broad spectrum. The embodiment of Wilhelm Giesecke, a bad-tempered factory owner, marks a new artistic challenge for Matschke. “I am delighted to be able to step in for my great colleague Götz Schubert, and in my favorite city, Vienna. I would never have thought that I would make another debut at the Volksoper. A wonderful challenge that I accept with great joy,” the actor explained in a statement. The operetta “Im weissen Rössl”: A classic in a new guise “Im weissen Rössl” is one of the most popular revue operettas

Nouvelair expands flight connections to Frankfurt and Munich in summer 2025

The Tunisian airline Nouvelair has announced that it will significantly expand its flight connections to Frankfurt and Munich in the upcoming 2025 summer flight schedule. From March 30, 2025, Nouvelair will increase its connection from Tunis to Frankfurt from three to four flights per week. In addition, the airline will increase the frequency of flights to Munich from two to three flights per week during the summer period from June 22 to September 14, 2025. These adjustments are intended to meet the increased demand for connections between Tunisia and Germany and to further increase the attractiveness of the flight offer for travelers. The adjustments to Nouvelair's 2025 summer flight schedule not only reflect the increasing demand for direct flights between Tunisia and Germany, but also the steady expansion of the airline's international route network. Since its founding, Nouvelair has continuously expanded its offering and tried to compete with other European airlines on the popular medium-haul routes between Europe and North Africa. In particular, the demand for connections from Tunisia to Germany has grown in recent years, which is mainly due to the close ties between the two countries in the field of tourism and the strong Tunisian diaspora in Germany. As the largest international hub in Germany, Frankfurt Airport is an important point of contact for international flights, especially for travelers from Europe and North Africa. Therefore, the increase in flight frequencies to Frankfurt from three to four weekly flights is a direct response to the increased demand for direct flights between Tunis and the Rhine-Main area. The new connection will be of interest to both tourists and business travelers.

Vietnam Airlines, the national airline of the Southeast Asian country, will significantly expand its flight connections to Germany in summer 2025. From July 3, 2025, the airline will offer the route between Hanoi and Munich three times a week instead of twice as before. This decision was announced as part of the adjustments to the summer flight schedule, which also reflect an increased presence of the Vietnamese airline on the international market. For the route to Munich, Vietnam Airlines is relying on the modern and efficient Boeing 787-9 aircraft type, which is known for its long range and passenger capacity. The expansion of the flight schedule represents a significant improvement for the connection between Vietnam and Germany. Munich is one of the most important international airports in Europe and is a central hub for passengers traveling for both business and tourism. With this adjustment, Vietnam Airlines is responding to the increasing demand for flights between Vietnam and Europe and aims to offer its customers greater flexibility in travel planning. The flight from Hanoi to Munich will now be operated three times a week. This enables the airline to offer more passengers the opportunity to travel between the two metropolises. Previously, Vietnam Airlines had only offered this route twice a week, which in the past had already led to capacity bottlenecks due to high demand. Especially in summer, which is particularly attractive for tourism, the extension of the connection will help to improve travel options for holidaymakers and business travelers alike. The decision to change the flight schedule from July 2025 is not only

Heringsdorf Airport, located on the Baltic Sea island of Usedom, has announced its 2025 summer flight schedule. As in previous years, those responsible are focusing on a balanced offer that includes both tried-and-tested routes and new connections. Particularly noteworthy is the addition of the new route to Friedrichshafen, which connects the island of Usedom directly with the Lake Constance region. The summer flight schedule also includes the continuation of several established scheduled flights that offer weekly connections to Zurich, Frankfurt, Mannheim, Kassel and Luxembourg. US Department of Transportation fines Frontier Airlines for chronically delayed flights

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has imposed a fine of $650.000 on Frontier Airlines. The low-cost carrier is accused of repeatedly operating chronically delayed flights over long periods of time. This measure is a response to the repeated disregard of flight schedules, which have caused inconvenience and uncertainty for passengers in recent years. The fine imposed is made up of two parts: $325.000 is to be paid immediately to the US Treasury, while the remaining $325.000 is suspended for a period of three years. The latter means that this sum is only due if Frontier Airlines repeatedly operates delayed flights over long periods of time in the future. If the airline does not commit any further chronic delays in the next three years, the outstanding amount would not come into effect. The Ministry of Transport's decision is part of a broader measure against airlines that repeatedly fail to adhere to their flight schedules and thereby cause significant disruption to passengers. The penalty for Frontier Airlines sends a clear signal that such violations of contractual obligations to passengers are taken seriously. This is intended to make it clear not only to the specific airline, but also to the entire industry that such abuses will not be tolerated. Allegations and causes of delays The chronic delays that Frontier Airlines is accused of affect a number of flights that have repeatedly failed to take off or arrive on time in recent years. In such cases, a variety of factors are often cited as contributing to the unreliability of the flight schedule:

Luxair terminates Luxembourg-Rotterdam route early

Luxair has announced that the route between Luxembourg and Rotterdam will no longer be served as of 31 January 2025. This decision follows a decline in demand and the difficulty of securing suitable take-off and landing rights for the summer season. Although the route only started in October 2024, the airline had already reduced the frequency to three weekly flights. Now the route is being cancelled entirely, reflecting the company's flexibility in terms of market demand. Luxair's decision to discontinue the Luxembourg-Rotterdam route is mainly due to the low load factor on its flights. Despite efforts to establish the route as a new connection, it was unable to achieve the expected passenger numbers. The low demand for direct flights between the two cities led to the difficult but ultimately necessary decision to abandon this route early. In autumn 2024, Luxair had started the route with three weekly flights. The airline had hoped to find a niche in the regional market by launching a new connection. However, it quickly became clear that the load factor did not meet expectations. This led to the frequency of flights being reduced and the entire route being cancelled. This adjustment is part of Luxair's flexible strategy to redirect capacity to routes with higher demand. Lack of slots for the summer season Another decisive factor that led to the cancellation of the route is the slot capacity at Rotterdam Airport, which was not sufficient to continue the route beyond the winter. Airport slots, i.e. the take-off and landing rights, are particularly in short supply in the

Saudi Arabia: Delay in launch of new airline Riyadh Air

For several years now, Saudi Arabia has been pursuing an ambitious strategy to promote the tourism sector while significantly expanding its aviation industry. With a growing population of around 32 million and the aim of welcoming 2030 million air passengers annually by 330 – three times as many as today – air transport is expected to make a decisive contribution to economic diversification. To achieve this ambitious goal, the creation of a second national airline, Riyadh Air, was announced. But now there are delays in the airline's planned launch. Riyadh Air was originally scheduled to begin flying in the summer of 2025. However, due to problems with the delivery of the first aircraft, a Boeing 787-9, the airline's launch has been postponed to the third quarter of the year. This means that the airline will not launch in the middle of the year as planned. The delay will impact its planned expansion and service provision, as Riyadh Air aims to begin flying after the arrival of its first aircraft. Nevertheless, the company is optimistic about future developments. Saudi Arabia's ambitious vision Under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia has set itself the goal of reducing its economic dependence on oil and repositioning itself as a global center for tourism and trade. A key component of this vision is aviation. The Saudi government is planning massive investments in the expansion of infrastructure, particularly in the area of airports and airlines. Riyadh Air is a central part of this strategy, which also aims to open up the country's culture.
