Easyjet stations new Airbus A321neo in Berlin and expands route network

EasyJet will strengthen its presence at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) with the stationing of two new Airbus A321neo aircraft. This measure, which will take effect with the 2025/2026 winter flight schedule, aims to provide more capacity, particularly for flights to popular sunny destinations. The first A321neo is scheduled to enter service on October 26, with the second following on January 1, 2026. The A321neo models, known for their increased capacity and cost-effectiveness, will enable EasyJet to expand its offerings on busy routes. Stephan Erler, Country Manager of EasyJet, emphasized that these modern aircraft "not only offer more seating capacity, but are also significantly more fuel-efficient and noise-efficient." This will enable the airline to reduce its operating costs despite the local site costs, while offering customers greater comfort and a wider choice of destinations. A total of more than 36.000 additional seats will be available in the upcoming winter flight schedule. EasyJet plans to use the new aircraft more intensively for winter sun destinations such as Lanzarote, Tenerife, Las Palmas, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Funchal, Agadir, and Marsa Alam. In addition to holiday routes, the new aircraft will also be used for connections to major cities such as Geneva, Zurich, London Gatwick, Rome, and Paris Charles de Gaulle. A further expansion of the route network from Berlin is the new connection to London Southend, which will operate twice a week, Mondays and Fridays, from November 7. This brings EasyJet's flight schedule from Berlin to a total of three airports in London. Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of Berlin Brandenburg Airport, welcomed the new connection as a positive signal for the expansion of the route network. EasyJet is also expanding its Munich location.

Franconia Air Service launches new flight connection Nuremberg-Zurich

Franconia Air Service has announced a new direct connection between Nuremberg and Zurich. Starting July 1 of this year, the airline will operate the route five times a week, Monday to Friday. This new route is intended to strengthen business and travel relations between Franconia and German-speaking Switzerland and offers travelers from both regions a more direct travel option. The launch of this connection underscores the importance of Nuremberg Airport as a regional transport hub and expands the range of services available to the economy and population of the northern Bavarian region. Corendon Airlines considers purchase of Airbus A321XLR and plans fleet growth

Corendon Airlines is considering acquiring Airbus A321 XLR aircraft in order to be able to rely on its own long-haul aircraft in the future. This was confirmed by company founder and CEO Yildiray Karaer in an interview with Airliners.de. The airline currently operates an Airbus A350 on a wet lease, but in the long term, the company is aiming for a fleet change and significant growth. Karaer specified the plans, stating that Airbus is currently preparing an offer for Corendon Dutch to switch its fleet to the A320 Neo family, one of which would be an A321 XLR. This is part of Corendon Airlines' broader fleet growth strategy, which envisions expanding the fleet from the current 35 to 60 aircraft over the next five years. However, Karaer noted that the current supply problems of the major aircraft manufacturers, namely Airbus and Boeing, must be overcome, as this is not an opportune time to expand the airline's fleet. Corendon Airlines' current fleet consists primarily of Boeing 737 family aircraft, including the 737 Max 8 and 9. If Corendon Dutch takes over the A320 Neo family aircraft, the 737 Max 9 aircraft registered there would be relocated to Malta. Wet leasing is also a fundamental component of the current fleet strategy. During the pandemic, Corendon had already sold and leased back its own 737 aircraft, and recently extended its wet lease agreement with World2Fly for an Airbus A350 for flights from Amsterdam to Curaçao for five years. Frankfurt-Hahn Airport extends summer flight schedule for 2025

Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is expanding its offerings for travelers in the upcoming 2025 summer flight schedule. According to a statement from Triwo Hahn Airport GmbH, additional flight destinations will be offered, which is intended to increase the airport's attractiveness for summer travelers. This will benefit the regional economy of the Hunsrück region by improving connections to international holiday destinations. Starting in June, there will be two new weekly flights to Rijeka in Croatia. Furthermore, established destinations that were already served in summer 2024 will be reinstated. These include the Croatian city of Zadar, Chania on Crete in Greece, and Alghero on Sardinia in Italy. These classic Mediterranean destinations are always very popular with vacationers and contribute to the airport's capacity utilization. In addition, flight connections to other popular destinations will be increased. These include Palma de Mallorca in the Balearic Islands and Girona in Spain, as well as Nador in Morocco. Air India inspects 787 fleet after crash – No technical defects found

Amadeus, a leading travel technology provider, and UN Tourism have published their new report, "Travel Insights 2025: Focus on Europe." This report provides comprehensive insights into passenger flows, key hotel market indicators, high-growth destinations, and newly launched air routes on the European continent. The analysis covers trends in passenger traffic and flight capacity from May 2024 to April 2025, with a forecast through October 2025. According to data from Amadeus Navigator360, international air passenger traffic to Europe is expected to increase by 2025 percent year-on-year between April and October 6,7. Among the top 30 destinations, Azerbaijan recorded the strongest growth, with a 26 percent increase in flight bookings between May 2024 and April 2025. Kazakhstan (7 percent) and the Czech Republic (6 percent) also saw an increase in bookings during this period. Despite the growth of new markets, established destinations continue to dominate the overall picture, with Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, and Germany leading the list of most booked air travel destinations, accounting for around 70,9 percent of all air travel. A similar picture emerges with available seat capacity to Europe for the period May 2024 to April 2025, with Spain and the United Kingdom each accounting for 12 percent of planned flight capacity, and Germany contributing 10 percent, underscoring their role as major travel hubs.
