Expansion of the catering options at Stuttgart Airport through Beans & Barley
Stuttgart Airport is significantly expanding its culinary offerings in the security area. With the opening of the new self-service restaurant "Beans & Barley," passengers now have access to a specialized selection of coffee and beer specialties, as well as various snacks. The space is operated by Casualfood GmbH, a company specializing in travel catering that has already implemented several concepts at German airports. The new food service establishment is located in the gate area and offers travelers a direct view of the apron, which is intended to enhance the experience in the waiting area before departure. According to Ulrich Heppe, Managing Director of Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH, the integration of this brand is part of a comprehensive strategy to improve the quality of terminal services. Casualfood GmbH's expansion at the Stuttgart location encompasses much more than just this single new opening. The company has recently acquired "Natural," a takeaway food concept, and the "Deli" bar, which focuses on smoothies and wraps. This development reflects the general trend at international airports to award food service areas to specialized chain restaurants in order to ensure standardized quality and efficient operations in high-traffic areas. The industry is thus responding to the changing consumption habits of passengers, who increasingly demand high-quality dining options in close proximity to their departure gates. Further expansion of the culinary network at the airport is planned by mid-2026. The operating company is currently preparing for the opening of the "Goodman & Filippo" restaurant, which features a combination of Italian-American dishes such as steaks and pasta. Additionally, a branch of the British chain will open in the publicly accessible area of the arrivals level.
