The airline Helvetic Airways will fly a total of six Embraer jets on behalf of Swiss in the 2022 summer flight schedule. As reported, the E195-E2 will also be used for the first time.

Before the corona pandemic, Helvetic was in the air with eight Embraer 190-E1 for the Lufthansa subsidiary. The sharp drop in demand led to the temporary suspension of the wet lease, which, however, quickly resumed – to a lesser extent. The Embraer 190-E2 is currently being flown for Swiss.

As reported Helvetic Airways will shortly also be flying two units of the largest E195-E2 variant under a wet lease for the Swiss Lufthansa subsidiary. Swiss confirmed on request that six Embraer jets will be rented from the regional airline for the time being. It is expressly not excluded that more could be added in the course of the next few months.

Last year there were rumoursthat Helvetic Airways could fly for Eurowings from Stuttgart. This order could not be landed, because the Lufthansa low-cost spin-off opted for five Airbus A220-300 from Air Baltic, which are stationed in Düsseldorf. Next will Avion Express operate seven A320s from Stuttgart and three from Düsseldorf. Another wet lease partner is Tuifly.
