Yesterday morning the "Fly-out", the official farewell of the Saab 105 OE, took place in the presence of Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner and high-ranking representatives of the armed forces at Vogler Air Base in Hörsching.

With over 156.500 flight hours and almost 254.000 missions for the safety of the population, the aircraft ends its active service at the end of the year after 50 years. As part of the “fly-out”, Defense Minister Tanner unveils a Saab 105 OE with a special Tiger paintwork “50 years in the service of Austria”. In her address, Tanner highlighted the multi-faceted tasks of the Saab 105 OE, especially the performance of the staff.

“This is the end of an impressive era. Such a long and safe flight operation was only possible thanks to the outstanding performance of our technicians and the pilots, who have mastered this jet to perfection. Especially at the critical end of a system's life, their commitment guaranteed smooth and, above all, safe and accident-free flight operations, ”said Minister Tanner in her address.

The Saab 105 OE will continue to serve in air surveillance until the end of the year. Their task will be taken over by the Eurofighter from 2021.
