The IAG group member British Airways has completed the WLAN upgrade of those planes that are used in short and medium-haul traffic. The so-called European Aviation Network from Immarsat is used, reports the Simpleflying portal.
As with Lufthansa, Swiss, Eurowings and Austrian Airlines, the operator will be Deutsche Telekom. The system is available from British Airways in the 124 aircraft of the Airbus A320 series. At the sister company Vueling, the machines are still being upgraded, but they are already available on many Airbus jets.
However, using British Airways Wi-Fi is not cheap or even free. One hour costs £ 4,99, four hours cost £ 10,99 and the entire flight duration is £ 14,99. But you only get the slimmed-down and throttled package. If you want more speed, for example for streaming, you have to shell out £ 7,99 or £ 17,99 or £ 23,99 for the aforementioned usage time. Passengers who use the chargeable WiFi service enter into a contract with Deutsche Telekom AG.
