Aircraft manufacturer Airbus has appointed Lars Wagner, CEO of Munich-based engine manufacturer MTU, to head its commercial aircraft division.

The company announced this on Wednesday evening in Toulouse. Wagner's contract with MTU runs until the end of 2025. He will replace the current division head Christian Scherer, who will be leaving Airbus.

Scherer and Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury have welcomed Wagner's return to the company where he previously worked. Faury is expected to remain at the helm of Airbus, while the board of directors plans to confirm Wagner as the new CEO at next year's annual general meeting.
