On February 20, 2024, American Airlines flight AA1912 had to make a return landing en route from Albuquerque to Chicago. An “unruly PAX” frantically tried to open an emergency exit.

According to local media reports, the incident is said to have occurred around 30 minutes after takeoff. There is talk of the man trying to use brute force to open an emergency exit on the Boeing 737-800 with the registration N352PS. He was overpowered by other passengers and the flight attendants.

Eyewitnesses report that there was damage because a loud hissing noise and a noticeable wind were heard through the cabin. The pilots decided to land back in Albuquerque, where the unruly PAX was then arrested by law enforcement.
