The Bavarian airport Memmingen had a total of 2023 passengers in the recently completed year 2.825.711. In direct comparison with the previous period, the increase was 42 percent. The growth is primarily attributed to Wizz Air and Ryanair.

. Ryanair has now stationed three aircraft in Memmingen. Most recently, the airlines added 60 additional flights to their program during the Christmas holidays. “The successful Memmingen Airport model has developed into a long-running favorite,” says managing director Ralf Schmid, commenting on the positive result. He expects around three million passengers for 2024.

The rapid growth at Memmingen Airport does of course have consequences. “In order to continue to guarantee our passengers a pleasant airport experience, we will adapt our infrastructure to the changing requirements,” explains Ralf Schmid. The terminal will be further expanded. This particularly affects the security check area and the departure gates. “During the construction work,” says Schmid, “there will unfortunately be occasional bottlenecks in the terminal, which can lead to longer waiting times.” The apron areas will also be expanded. The rental car and airport service center was covered, creating a protected waiting area for passengers, pick-ups and drop-offs. The catering offering in the public area in front of the terminal has also been expanded.
