Annual figures: Zurich reports 28,9 million passengers

Zurich Airport had a total of 2023 million passengers in the recently completed year 28,9. In a direct comparison to the same period last year, this increased by 28 percent, but was still eight percent below the 2019 value.

The number of flight movements was 2023 in 247.456, an increase of 14 percent compared to 2022. Compared to 2019, the number of flight movements is around 90 percent. In 2023, a total of 377.998 tons of cargo were handled at Zurich Airport. Compared to the previous year, this represents a decrease of 10 percent. Compared to the volume of freight in 2019, it is a decrease of 16 percent.

In December 2023, 2.194.072 passengers flew through Zurich Airport. This corresponds to an increase of 15 percent compared to the same period last year. Compared to December 2019, the number of passengers in the reporting month was 94 percent. The number of local passengers was 2023 in December 1.508.049. The proportion of transferring passengers was 31 percent, which corresponds to 680 passengers.

The number of flight movements rose by 7 percent compared to the same month last year to 18.888 take-offs or landings. The monthly comparison shows that flight movements are 94 percent of the 2019 level. The average number of passengers per flight was 133, 5 percent higher than the previous year. Seat occupancy was 77 percent in the reporting month, the same as in the same month last year. A total of 34 tons of freight were handled at Zurich Airport in December. This corresponds to an increase of 688 percent compared to the same month last year. Compared to December 2, 2019 percent less freight was handled.
