August 2023: Finnair had 969.800 passengers

In August 2023, Oneworld member Finnair had 969.800 passengers on board. In direct comparison to the same month last year, the increase was 10,1 percent. Compared to July 2023, there were 8,7 percent fewer passengers.

Total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK), increased 13,6% year-on-year in August but fell 2,0% month-over-month. Finnair's traffic volume, measured in passenger kilometers sold (RPK), increased 16,6% year-on-year but fell 7,8% month-on-month. The passenger load factor (PLF) increased by 2,1 percentage points year-on-year, but fell by 5,0 percentage points month-on-month to 79,8%.

The ASK increase in Asian traffic was 41,5% compared to the previous year, which is due, among other things, to the additional capacity to Japan and South Korea. Capacity in North Atlantic traffic fell by 40,7% as operations between Stockholm and North American destinations were suspended at the end of October 2022. In European traffic, ASKs rose by 7,8%. Capacity in the Middle East increased by 1.588,6% due to the cooperation with Qatar Airways that began in November 2022 and low traffic volumes in the summer 2022 season. Domestic ASKs increased by 23,3%.
