August 2023: Vienna hotels with 1,6 million overnight stays

The Viennese accommodation providers had sales of 2023 million euros in July 110,2, 29 percent higher than the previous year. August reached 1,6 million (+14%) guest overnight stays. Since the beginning of the year, 10,9 million (+39%) overnight stays have been counted.

Vienna closed August 2023 with 1.646.000 overnight stays and an increase of 14% compared to the same month in 2022. Between January and August, the federal capital recorded 10.880.000 overnight stays - an increase of 39% compared to the same period last year. In total, the companies generated around 622 million euros during this period. With 320.000 overnight stays (+11%), Germany leads the list of the top 10 markets in August, followed by Austria (214.000, -2%), Italy (135.000, +18%), the USA (81.000, +5% ), Spain (72.000, +19%), Poland (63.000, +23%), France (56.000, +15%), Great Britain (55.000, +11%), Israel (41.000, +26%) and Switzerland ( 28.000, +11%).

The net overnight turnover of Vienna's accommodation establishments in July was 110.245.747 euros - an increase of 29% compared to the same month in 2022. In the period from January to July, the establishments were able to generate 621.961.000 euros - an increase of 61% compared to the same period of the previous year. The average occupancy of hotel rooms in August was around 74% (8/2022: around 72%), and that of beds was 58,6% (8/2022: 56,7%). In the year to date (January to August), room occupancy was around 66% (1-8/2022: around 53%), bed occupancy was 51,9% (1-8/2022: 42,1%). A total of around 72.100 hotel beds were available in Vienna in August - that was 5.000 beds (+7,6%) more than were offered in August 2022.
