The Austrian Armed Forces will once again participate in the Donauinselfest (Danube Island Festival) this year, which will take place from June 20 to 22, 2025, under the motto "Your Island. Real Moments." Admission is free. The Austrian Armed Forces Action & Activity Island will be open from 12:00 PM to 19:00 PM on all three festival days and is designed to attract sports and technology enthusiasts.
Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner emphasized the importance of employee motivation, who have access to numerous future-oriented training and continuing education opportunities. Jörg Neumayer, State Secretary of the SPÖ Vienna, emphasized that the Austrian Armed Forces, with its program that promotes team spirit and community, contributes to the island's sense of togetherness. Visitors can experience adrenaline and action on an inflatable obstacle course, a military fitness course, or a ZORB course. Spectacular highlights include the up to ten-meter-high bag jump towers, the "Hanging Challenge," and the strenuous truck-pulling challenge, which require skill, endurance, and team spirit.
Technology enthusiasts can playfully immerse themselves in the world of cybersecurity in the mobile cyber escape room or experience virtual heights in flight simulators. On-site visitors can also learn about pilot training and other career opportunities with the Austrian Armed Forces. The Austrian Armed Forces is also part of the "Wiener Städtische Versicherung / Sicheres Wien Insel" (Vienna City Insurance / Safe Vienna Island), where, together with other aid and emergency organizations, it presents disaster protection and civil-military cooperation. The program will be accompanied by performances by the Carinthian Military Band and the Upper Austrian Armed Forces rock band Camouflash.
