Basel Airport with new poster on the tower

Advertising

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Swiss-French Treaty with an impressive giant poster on the control tower.

The poster shows the historic moment of the signing of the contract on July 4, 1949 in Bern by Max Petitpierre for the Swiss Federal Council and Henri Hoppenot for the government of the French Republic. The airport, as the first and only binational aviation project in the world, was opened after the Second World War and has since been an important economic infrastructure in the border triangle of Alsace, northwestern Switzerland and Baden-Württemberg.

With over 6.000 jobs on site and its role as key infrastructure for the region, EuroAirport makes a significant contribution to economic success. In addition to important industries such as Europe's largest health and life sciences cluster, it is also home to the world's largest competence center for the interior design of VVIP aircraft. A key challenge remains environmental sustainability, with a focus on decarbonization and reducing night-time flight noise, for which the airport aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.
